2005 Land Rover LR3 - Paint Question

Hey, guys. I did a search from LR3's and all I found was a C & B from three years ago, and it didn't mention the softness/hardness of the paint.

My girlfriend has 2005 Black LR3 that is in DESPERATE need of a good detail. Lots of swirls, RIDS, etc. I'll be using a PC along with the full spectrum of Menzerna polishes as well as every LC CCS pad on the planet. Could you guys tell me what kind of paint I'll most likely be working with? Hard, soft, somewhere in between??

Thanks in advance.

Why don't you just start off with the lightest polish and pad you have and work your way up until you find the right combination of polish and pad that will work? Then report back to us and let us know.

Especially if nobody can tell you the hardness/softness of the paint.

IMO, I wouldn't just ask and then go to town. I couldn't trust someone to just tell me how the paint is anyway. I have to get a feel for it myself. Their opinion of soft and hard might be way different then yours. Checking the paint hardness by moving up in polishes and pads is always the safest way.

Haven't worked on an LR3, but I've worked on an '03 Discovery some. Though my expereince is limited, I'd say its medium-soft. Working it with a PC I had an easier time making corrections than my family's black BMW, but a hard time than with our black porsche. (all our cars all starting from similar points, though the LR lives outdoors).
