2005 Ford Expedition detail

Clean Dean

Keep it clean !!!
Detailed this 2005 Ford Expedition yesterday, and the owner informed me that it had not been detailed it since was purchased. He really wanted the most attention spent on the interior, so I went to town with my Eurosteam 1900, and had to refill the tank twice.
Here is what I was faced with:

The leather was cleaned with a 20:1 solution of Meguiars APC and steam.

Some after pics from the process:

Exterior is pretty much what you would expect from a 4 year daily driver, except that the wheels were really nasty. Had to resort to a strong acid based cleaner and some 0000 steel wool to bring them up to standard. Paint was buffed with Menzerna SIP and then 3M Ultrafina and the hand waxed with Collinie’s #885 Fleetwax. Some fairly heavy scratches had to be wet sanded with 2000 grit, but luckily they were still in the clear.

Owner was real happy, and I slept real well last night. 

Exceptional work Dean!

FYI, I think you just made up my mind on getting a steamer! Amazing turn around on those leather seats! :bigups:bigups

P.S. Ask him what's up with the pink work out gloves. :D

Thanks gents !!!

RaskyR1,

I was on the fence for about 2 years before buying a cheaper model. Used it for about 2 months before I knew a commercial one was the way to go. I keep finding new ways to use it, and just discover it cleans my foam pads perfectly after using them.

Thanks gents !!!

Which unit did you end up getting?

Never thought of using it to clean foam pads.

I love using it for nasty leather seats and junked out consoles. Makes me feel like a magician.:D

I haven't been able to find a good one that is any cheaper than the Eurosteam. I'm with you though, I would not be able to justify the expense only detailing part time.

If anyone finds a good unit that is priced lower please share it with me (through an e-mail or PM) and I will see if I can start carrying them as a cheaper alternative.

For the record I carry them too.

My bad. I was completely unaware that you carried them. For those of you looking for one buy it here !!! You will not regret the purchase. I have 2 other cheaper units I used to experiment with, and there is really no comparison between the cheaper models and the 1900/2100 units.

Yuck! That thing was nasty. Great transformation Dean! These types of jobs are a lot of work, but very rewarding when they are done. Great job.
