So earlier today I did a full detail on my car but didn't take any pictures then because it was really cloudy and it looked horrible outside. But tonite, however, the clouds were beginning to clear and there was a BEAUTIFUL sunset at the lake so I had to stop for a few pics!

My process:

Wash (2 bucket process with lambswool mitt)

Clay with Claymagic

Klasse AIO

Meg's #7 Show Car Glaze via PC and red finishing pad

Meg's #16 Past Wax by hand

Meg's #26 High Tech Yellow Polymer Wax via PC and red finishing pad

303 Aerospace Protectant on all plastic trim and tires

No Touch Tire Foam for Wheel Wells

Let me know what you think!

Very nice wet glow, especially in that last shot!

At least it cleared out for you, I detailed a silver E320 today and had to finish it in their garage when it started misting and drizzling and it continued on well past the completion of the detail. :(

Hi

Great pics!! Excellent location too.

I am always confused, does putting oils like #7 over a product like AIO reduce the durability of the product you put on top?? In your case #16.

I assumed that the oils can not be absorbed by the paint as the protection of the AIO will rebuff them.

So either you wipe most of #7 off as it just lays on top of AIO or next product you apply gets caught in some kinda #7-next product- smear.

Maybe i missed the point or my logic is off!! I just thought that oils like #7 went into the paint.

I assumed only a LSP could follow a all in one cleaner wax type product as the protection of the cleaner wax would probably bond with the LSP.

That is nothing against the great work above, and if a certain pattern works then nobody should stop you using it!!

Im just looking for clarification!!

Thanks

Geoff

Well basically the way I saw it was like this:

The AIO cleans the paint

The #7 adds gloss/rejuvinative oils to it

The #16 locks all that in

The #26 give a great shine on top of the durable #16

It turned out looking great, so I have no complaints here!

Wow! Absolutely amazing! I am very jealous for your setting to take pictures - - If I tried to drive somewhere nice for my pictures the car would be covered in slush :) Again, great detail!

Toyota should use some of those shots on their glossy marketing flyers. Nice work on the car and nice photos!

Nice job, I am glad to see the #16 you picked up from me in action! I have not had a chance to use it yet. I just put on some Collinite IW #845, it's holding up well in the salt and snow.

Agreed it looks great, how #7 oils rejuvinate paint thru the protecting layer of AIO i dont know. Maybe Scottwax will have the answer??

Thanks

I think you are right that the oils wil not rejuvinate the paint when used on top of AIO, but I think it will fill microscopic pores/imperfections in the paint, and thereby still work to some extent. But if the paint really needed the oils as in old/dried out paint, I'm sure it would be better to apply it directly to the paint, before any protective film. I've heard that some use #7 on top of their LSP, like before going to a car show, to get a wet look.

Btw, the Corolla and sunset looks great!
