2005 Black VW Jetta

Hello everyone, newb here. I just picked up a 2005 VW Jetta which had never been polished or waxed before. I live in Ontario Canada so the winters can be very harsh. I plan to store my car for the winter from here on in but Im looking to add some protection and get rid of some moderate swirls and a few 'semi-deep' scratches.

I've spent quite a few hours on various forums gathering some info(it's never ending!!). I just wanted some opinions on what I plan to do. It looks something like this:

1. Wash and dry (2 buckets)

2. Mother's clay bar

3. Wash again

4. Menzerna PO203 white pad to start/orange pad if swirls still there

5. Menzerna SIP w/ orange pad ONLY IF swirls are still there after step #4

6. Menzerna PO85 with a blue pad

7. Klasse AIO w/ white pad

8. Klasse SG (3 coats) w/ black pad

9. P21s with blue pad

I will be using a PC 7424XP with LC pads

I've heard a lot of good things about Menzerna and Klasse so that's why Im trying to incorporate them both.

If I used the AIO, would I be removing the PO85 that I have applied?

I also plan to use Chemical Guys 'Citrus Wash' to remove old wax (NXT 2.0 was applied about a month ago) before I begin the swirl removal process.

Any help/opinions anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.....

I have a black '02 Jetta that I have had excellent results with Megs Ultimate Compound on an Orange Pad followed by the Megs new SwirlX on white pad. Some #26 topped with Ultimate Quik Wax makes it look great and sheet water very well.

In the past I used IP with FPII, but found the Megs OTC products to be easier to work with and no dusting (IP).

Thanks for the tip Bpfoley. I have mostly Poorboys and Menzerna in my arsenal so maybe I'll try IP and FPII and see how that works out for me. Did you use a DA when you applied them?

yes, I use DA for application. Since I polish once a year, the finish never gets very bad and minimal after-winter correction is all I need. Occasionally I will use 4" pads for trouble spots with same products. While I find the paint to be harder than others, it is not too difficult to work with with DA only. If the finish is neglected I would skip right to rotary and try same products before stepping up the cutting power (pad or product).
