2004 Acura TL Pearl White full detail (many pics)

Car was recently purchased used. Car came to me in decent shape, but had severe marring on all panels. Many paint transfer type "scratches" on the doors, from other car doors hitting when opening. Also many severe scratches on rear bumper. Previous owner did quick touch-up paint job to several areas on rear bumper. Looks like incorrect touch-up paint was used and customer wanted this addressed. I had to remove old touch-up work, re-apply new Acura touch up, and customer will be coming back this week for wetsanding and polishing of touch-ups.

Process:

Blackfire Clay

Optimum Compound with Meg's Burgandy pad on "paint-transfers" on doors/bumper

IP on CCS yellow pad where OC was used

SIP on CCS orange pad on entire car

NXT wax

303 Aerospace on engine bay and black trim

2500 grit sandpaper to remove previous touch-ups

Applied new Acura Touch-up paint on several areas

Headlights wetsanded (2500 grit, 3000 grit, OC/Burgandy, IP/yellow, SIP/orange)

Scuff type scratch on LR taillight also address with above method

nice work. can u describe your touch up work in more detail? I have an upcoming job where i might need to touch up and wetsand. thanks

Nice job. I have a 2007 in the same color and DWG really helps white look very wet. I love the rims on the car - which ones are those? Are OEM or aftermarket?

I had to wet-sand to remove existing touch up paint. I let sandpaper sit in water for several hours before using. I started with 2000 grit to remove touch up paint in the chip areas. I then cleaned area with 50/50 IPA/water mix. I then applied SEVERAL light coats of touch up paint. I made sure previous coat dried before applying more. Make sure that the level of touch up paint exceeds the paint level of the cars paint. Once you reach this level, you are ready to wet-sand. After the touch up paint cures for a few days, I will start with 2500 grit wet-sandpaper and carefully wet-sand the touch-up areas. Then I will finish with 3000 grit and blend touch up area in to the surrounding paint. Polishing is next, and I will probably go in this order with various pads: Optimum Compound; SSR 2.5; IP; SIP; 106; wax.

That is a great color! One of my favorites. I believe they are OEM TL wheels. They are 18" and the owner painted them gun-metal.

Great job and those touch ups are what I dream mine will turn out to be. I usually end up with a glob of junk; thanks for clarifying your method though.

I think the OP already mentioned this, but those are the factory A-SPEC wheels. They are SUPER NICE. You rarely see them on TL's...at least in my neck of the woods. When I get get my new TL (Currently have a 99) I'll definitely opt for those A-SPEC's.

No problem, man. I don't think it was stated in the OP, so you didn't miss it.

I love those wheels too. You should see them on a new NBP TL-S! :shocked:shocked:shocked

Thanks Eisen - I missed that in the OP. I love the wheels. Need to price those bad boys out.

Thanks guys. The owner has definitely put together a nice TL. The car is everything I would do to one. Wish I would have gotten one of these for the wife. It is a very well put together car.

Hey, I know this thread is really old but hopefully someone will see it. I have a Del Sol and am going to repainting it here in a few weeks. I want to paint it acura TL pearl white but don't know if it has any other name or if anyone has the color code for this car. Thanks in advance!
