17k on my wifes car after 1.5 years of ownership. Car will be for sale in 1 month, by the way.
We live in the suburbs of CHicago and got blasted with snow/salt three times already. There's 9" of snow on the ground now :scared: I hate the winter.
We moved into our new home in June, which has a three car garage. I'm in the process of having a 45,000 BTU natural gas, forced air unit installed on the ceiling for heat. It vents outside and is run by a thermostat. Garage has insulation, so it should be reasonably efficient. I just need to get a contractor to actually show up and install it. :nervous:
Anyway, until then, I went to the Home Depot and bought an attachment to put on my BBQ grills propane tank It took the chill off, but never really warmed the garage up---didn't really expect it to though.
Process went like this:
1.) Warm garage for 30min.
2.) Have hot and cold water in garage, but no drain. Sprayed car with 90% hot and 10% cold water to get wheel wells clean.
3.) QEW the entire car.
4.) Dry with waffle weave towel
5.) Install Michelin X-Ice tires on steel rims with hubbies. Second season, and we love them.
6.) Use air compressor to blow water out of crevices.
7.) Dry with microfiber.
8.) Apply Zaino's fusion to entire car with white pad X1. USE PC for entire process
9.) Remove with microfiber.
10.) Applys Sonus swirl remover x1---works great!
11.) Apply Z5x1
12.) Applys Z8.
13.) Apply Z5.
14.) Apply Z8.
15.) Apply Z2
16.) Apply Z8
17.) Move to door jambs and clean and then polish with Meguiars cleaner/wax. It's all I had.
18.) Wipe down entire engine with wet cloth and simple green. Took an hour.
19.) Dress tires and wheel well with some cheap tire shine---WET LOOK. Works okay. I don't care since the salt/slush, etc. will get them dirty in two days.
20.) Woolite to interior rubber mats, which are over OEM carpet mats.
21.) Sonus Cockpit detailer.
22.) Miller Lite x3. :lol
So, that's the routine and yes, I'm going to sell it. Messed up in the head, aren't I?
