2004.5 VW Jetta GLI (56k warn)

My buddy picked up this Blue Lagoon GLi about a month ago. It has under 30k on it but looks like someone was washing it with a broom. :angry It had some of the worst marring I've come across since the black Saab 9-5 I did( http://autopia.org/forum/click-brag/79729-01-a4-02-9-5-aero-56k-warn.html ) There was a ton a RIDS, some water spots, a really long deep scratch I wetsanded, and the usual swirls.

I thought I could use OHC on it with a yellow pad but it barely touched it. I ended up using HTEC and was still having trouble removing marring! I was dissappointed with the marring left but I removed ~95%. The before pictures didn't capture how bad it really was but you get the point.

My final process was:

ONR Wash

Clay magic clay with QEW mix as lube (trying to use up my QEW)

HTEC with a yellow LC pad @1700-2100 (Took 3-4 passes on every panel!)

OP with a white LC pad @1100-1500

JW AJ X2

Tires/Wheels/fenders washed with ONR

Wheels - Wheel wax

Tires - Megs Nxt Tech protectant

Fenders - AA extreme shine tire foam

It was dark when I finished so I didn't get very many good after shots. I took a few today and will post them in a day or two.

Questions or comments?

Here are a few after shots in the sun. This was the next day and the car sat in the rain all night and was driven before I was able to take pictures. No QD or cleaning before the pics, it was pretty clean. You can see the deeper marring I was not able to remove. The owner was very happy with it so that's all that matters. :)

Great work! I like that blue.

Thanks. I like it too. I actually had someone stop by when I was polishing to ask if it was a stock color.

Nice set of GTI's you have. My first car was an '85 Golf Diesel with 58hp and I currently drive a 2001 GTI GLX with a shine RS suspension.
