2003 Mercury Marauder - Interior, Correction, CQuartz

I was contacted by a this person after I put my recent Mustang GT album upon reddit, he was looking to get his cars prepped for winter. After meeting him after work one day, we decided to go with a correction and coating for one of his Marauders that he usually uses as a daily driver.

He also wanted the interior cleaned up, so I steamed and spot treated some dirty areas. The spots in the trunk were hit with Wolfgang Carpet & Upholstery cleaner before being steamed.

The paint on the Marauder was super soft, M205 was leaving marring so I polished the car with Menzerna SF 4000 (now branded as Menzerna Final Polish) and Rupes Yellow Pads. The car was wiped down with Carpro Eraser in prep for Cquartz.

The hurricane put a damper on my progress, I had to stop for almost a full 24 hours. Luckily I got 90% of the polishing done before it started raining all day and night.

great job on a car i can honestly say i`ve never heard of

Thanks. This seems to be the case. Last week when I told people I was working on this, they all had that same response until I showed them a picture and they`d go "oh those things."

Always enjoy the Panther Platform cars that show up here...

cf2121- That`s a lot to get done in11 hours, good job!

Was it a repaint? I`ve never encountered soft clear on a Panther. (No, I haven`t done a Marauder but, AFAIK, they were painted same as the Crown Vics/Grand Marq./Town Cars.)

Thanks.

It was all original except for the trunk and front bumper. My paint readings were a consistent 110-120 microns. The trunk was actually repainted very well and clocked in about 170.

Ah, OK...and good on you for taking the readings! Interesting that it was so soft though...the readings are a bit low, but I wouldn`t have thought them low enough to be "down to the softer clearcoat".

Sweet car and an awesome detail. So you did one step and she was ready to roll out ?

Hope you made a descent coin on it too ;)

Thanks! Yep, super soft paint made it clean up easily. And yeah don`t worry it paid well.
