2003 Black Z06-another polishing marathon

Almost forgot about this one, I polished it about 3 weeks ago.

Another detail, another black vette that is hammered. Client just bought the car from a dealer down in FL. It was raining when he picked it up. After getting home and looking at the paint he contacted the dealer and they agreed to pay to have it properly detailed.

As you can see it was pretty rough, I got it to 85% or better.

Exterior only.

Peocess:

QEW wash

Clay with clay magic red clay and Z6/water 50/50 as a lube.

Horz surfaces got 2-3x w/ Edge black wool/strada 1000/Hitachi 1800

Vert surfaces got 2x w/ Edge yellow wool/3M ECC/Hitachi 1700

All surfaces got Edge green wool/Presta 1500/Metabo 1600

Finished off with 3M blue 6" (tight areas) 8" foam pad/3M ultrafina/Metabo 1700.

Re-wash car with Foam lance 2-3oz of Z7 and 28oz of water.

Wheels cleaned with Poorboys SnR.

Tires and wells cleaned with AM red hot APC.

Dried with Pacshak WW drying towel.

3x of Z5pro with ZFX.

Z8

I was at the clients place for 13 hours this time. Most of the after pics where from after the polishing wash. Still had some daylight. The finals pics in the garage turned out poor, so I just included one of those.

Looks great (as usual). I notice you have used the Ultrafina for a couple of recent details on vehicles with hard clears. Do you find that the Ultrafina does a better job of finishing the hard clears than the 106ff? I would assume the Ultrafina would finish better on soft clears, but was wondering just how much better it is on hard clears than the 106ff.

Thanks ww!

It really just depends on how the surface is before UF or 106FF. If you are trying to 2 step something, you might be better off with 106ff. Since I really have to cut into the clear on these severely defected hard vettes, I follow with either SIP or P1500 and the green edge wool, then the UF. "I" find UF easier to use. But you may not.

Looks great Bryan. You're just a glutton for punishment aren't ya?! :D

Thanks Wade! No, not me. :buffing: :har:

Looks great! Seems like I see a lot of C5 Vettes in about the same state this was in. Anyway, looks like you brought it back to new. I'd love to see some of your work in person and maybe get some pointers for my own car. Maybe we could meet up some time.

gmblack3a- You're really doing some incredible work!

2-3X with the black/Strada combo sounds very aggressive  I wouldn't expect the yellow/3M ECC to be exactly a *mild* combo, if the ECC is liked the older PI-III ECC.

The Presta 1500/green wool sounds like a very good middle step.. I was hoping to get by with OP for this step as I don't really want to buy yet another product

Man That paint looked jacked up!

Nice work.

That car would make some of the cream puff detailers heads spin. They wouldn't know what to do. :LOLOL

Holy Crap that paint was bad!:wow:

Thank God you saved it from further harm!!!:lol

That's one hell of a job and it looks 100% better!!!:bigups

Have a Heineken on me for that turn around!

Very nice Z & job Bryan! Wool is the only way on these cars! Did the Red Clay marr it pretty bad? Did you switch from 777 to Red Hot? Red Hot's alot lot stronger? How much did you cut it?
