It should be safe to use them, just wash them thoroughly with some Dish soap and rinse them well. It works best if you wash them immediately after using them - they rinse a lot better.

I believe our friend Dave favors the pads from www.onegrand.com (One Grand Pads). Call them for good pricing, I believe I was quoted $15 for 25 pads shipped to CA but later found 25 pads at a detail shop for $12. I'll be trying the OG ones next.

whether it's 50 cents or a dollar/PC, I think it's such a waste to toss it away after only 1 use unless the pad is really dirty. Just give it a good wash & rinse after each use and I would use it 4-5 times then throw it away. That will bring your costs down to about a quarter each time. IMO, foam pads are much easier to clean than terry pads anyway!

terry pads = washing machine, air dry

foam pads = dishwasher, pulled out before dry cycle, air dry.

same difference in my oppinion.

Sometimes I don't even use soap, just rinse VERY well till they are clean. How often are you going to wax? 5 bucks a year for 10 applicators seems like a small price to pay to use a new one every time and be safe.

What I tend to do, is after I use it once to wax, I wash it and then use another new one to wax, but the old one for interior dressings,etc,etc......

Either way should work well.....

DK I thought that was a dent in your car by the side marker, looking closer it's just the reflection. Scared me there ;)

Try to just soak it in Dawn with water before it dries on the applicator. If you have a light colored applicator you can find out if it's still good by carefully inspecting it, usually.

is there any way to safely clean the meguiar's yellow (polishing) PC Pads?? I know meguiars says not to but I need to..... for some reason mine are getting too much product retained in them or something.... and only after 3 uses.....

I was contacted by this client to restore the finish on this 2002 Berger SS Camaro.

This car is #66 of 100 and is a Stage I 380HP version which consists of cold air induction, Hurst shifter, GMMG chambered exhaust, Eibach springs, Fikse FM5 wheels, drilled rotors and Berger badges.

As it was dropped off.

As you can see here there was plenty of protection on the surface and needed to be stripped away.

Client wanted the front bumper stripes replaced since they were nicked up pretty bad.

Now onto the paint.

Since this was an SS with a fiberglass hood the only panels I could take readings from were the rear quarters and rocker panels.

Some readings were in the 70 micron range so I had to tread lightly.

Onto the vinyl stripes.

The stripes were in terrible shape. Not only are they near impossible to replace but quite pricey as well for original replacements.

Spectacular work Richie.
Most detailers can take a lesson from you. The value added services that you offer means extra income. Replacing the stripes is something that most people would not even consider taking on, but for every service that you offer, you make yourself more valuable to the customer.
Great job.:thumbup::hurray::rockon:
