Been wanting to post this one for quite some time now, but I am backlogged and not getting much time to sit in front of the computer haha.

The point of this detail was to get a daily driver back to the way it was 10 years ago when it was first picked up. After that, we wanted to get it protected for the long run so we elected for 22ple glass coating.

Here is a few shots of before hand.

After removing the deflector, we were greeted with several years of crud buildup.

Yes complete with the infamous hammer wheel, which needed some attention.

After washing the vehicle, it was time for some decontamination!

Iron X was used to pull out years of embedded iron.

After the Iron X was rinsed off, the vehicle was clayed with 3M blue clay and pinnacle clay lube.

Once fully decontaminated, it was time for the polishing. I elected to use Menzerna Power Finish on my favourite new toy, the RUPES LHR15. This was applied with a RUPES Yellow polishing pad.

Headlights were polished with this combo as well.

and after

After the paint was completely polished, the wheels got a bit of elbow grease and some chemical guys metal polish. Some 0000 steel wool and Megs APC+ were used on the black spots that plague chrome wheels.

The results were great!

Now it was time to lay down the protectant. 22ple Signature comes out to put some gloss and 24 months of protection on the paint.

22ple VR1 was used on the metal. The surfaces were cleaned with Gtechniq panel wipe prior to application.

Here are some after shots of the coating after it has cured for about an hour. The paint will get more glossy as some days pass by as 22ple is glass silica and takes a full 5 days to cure. (it can be driven and used normally however, after 6 -8 hours initial tact time)

That was it for day one. Day two consisted of coming back and getting the interior in as best shape as possible.

Here are some before pictures.

Started off with the dash. Here is a 50/50 of before and after. Left side is before and right side after. Plastics were cleaned with 1Z deep plastic cleaner.

Same with the center console. Sorry for the lack of straight lines. I forgot to bring some masking tape with me for proper 50/50 shots.

Leather was cleaned with 1Z Deep plastic cleaner as well.

And now for a few after shots. The carpets were vacuumed, pre soaked with Chemical guys Fabric Clean and then hot water extracted.

The leather seats were finished in Pinnacle leather conditioner and the plastics were protected with DP total interior protectant.

All in all about 13 hours in total were taken. Not too bad for what we started with and the client was extremely happy of course!

Thanks for looking! :)

Looks great, you really brought it back. And I was a bit young, but I remember those rims being popular back in the day. Never seen them on an MDX.

Thomas you knocked it outta park on that one! I'm sure it was hammered inside I cringe everytime I see an MDX of that body style. Did you have to pull the seats? That area between the front seats and doors that seems impossible to get to with pulling them is always grimy as can be.

Ugh.. its that area you mentioned and between the front seats and the center console. Impossible to get to. If I did this at my shop, yes the seats would have been pulled, but since it was a mobile detail, I did not. I just stuck my arms in those places with the vac extension as far as I could.

Luckily I was able to get 95% of everything there. Along with a few nicks and cuts on the 'ol arms haha.
