In the middle of trying to polish out swirls/scratches from my '01 I30, but a couple of the scratches arent really responding to SSR2.5 and an Orange Propel pad.
Ive tried a ton of different techniques, and I think Im down to the *correct* one. Looked like I wasnt working the product in enough before, but now I am.
Is it possible that the clearcoat on the car is just that hard? One of the scratches in question is visible, but you cannot feel it with your fingernail. its actually not a very deep scratch at all, but its just not responding to the SSR treatment. At this point, I dont care about removing it totally, but I cant even get the edges to "knock down" so I at least wouldnt see the white line left in the clearcoat.
I havent been able to find much info on the paints used that year, but I did find one reference to a special "crosslinked clearcoat" that Nissan started using in '00. I dont know if its just a fancy marketing name, or if it actually does somethign to make the clearcoat harder.
Any help/advice would be appreciated!
