2001 BMW 740iL Stratus Color Finished

While this color is not my fav', the car turned out superb for an '01. The dealer sold this car to an individual 4 years ago, so I knew the finish would be pretty good. Plus, it only have 50,000 miles in 7 years. Almost chip free on the front end.

Here's a representative of the light scratches I encountered:

Light compounding with a wool pad removed them pretty easily

After compound + polishing (used Adams Revive because I have a lot of it to reduce my inventory), the car was power washed and given a coat of Meguiar's #26. I wasn't able to get some decent outdoor shots, but you'll get the idea. For the interior, I used a soapy water solution and horse hair brush on the leather and interior plastic. For the carpets, I power washed the mats and used apc and a hot water extractor to remove.

Oh, we put the rear seat bottom back in....it's pretty easy to take out and clean when it's outside the car.

Getting ready to start on a Black (what else) 645Ci this week.

Nice work Toto. Ours has 105k on it now and I hope to get 4 more years out of it. Wonder if I will be able to find a nice 50k mile E38 in 4 yrs.

[Insert usual :bow regarding TotolandMach's work here]

TotolandMach- Glad to see you got one that wasn't too awfully difficult :D

And I actually *like* that color, but then that's not necessarily a compliment :o

Hello. I've never heard of this forum and the only reason why I created an account was to get ahold of you. I have seen so many photos of your work on the interenet and it amuzes me everytime. Im planning on buying a 2001 BMW 740iL within the next two months. I have searched high and low and finally think I found one. It is bright silver with gray interior and equipped with the sport package. The car is in excellent conditon but I want it to have the shine that the cars you have detailed have. Is there any way you can give me step by step directions on how and what you use when you detail these cars? I dont want to take it to a professional detailing place because I enjoy detailing cars myself but I am not quite familiar with the products or tools you use. The only major detailing I have perfromed was using a clay bar which works great but doesnt bring that deep deep gloss that you have managed to achieve doing I dont know what. So again could you please make me a list of products and tools you use as well as directions on what I should start off doing first.

Best Regards -C.Jones

P.S. Your work is amazing!

I enjoy changing the oil every 5 thousand miles on my car. However, the engine needs to be rebuilt. Since I like working on cars, can someone tell me (step by step) how I go about doing it? I don't want to take it to a shop. :wall:wall:wall

C Jones, with all due respect, Toto is an artist when it comes to detaling. Don't you think it is desrespectful towards a pro to have such request? If paint correction was so easy that one only needed the products and steps, we would not have a profession.

Get someone from here who is in your area and pay good $$$ to get it right the first time. You should watch as well, so you can see what it actually takes.

PS: Toto's response will no doubt be a nicer one, but I just couldn't help it. :D:D:D
