It has been a while since I have the chance to detail someone else's car other than my own. This was just a quick cleanup on a very nice Jaguar XK8 convertible. The car is garage kept with only 49,000 miles. The paint was in pretty bad shape but we decided on a nice one step to get the car back to acceptable standards. The HD Proxy also brought out the nice black perl in this finish.

Process:

Wash with NXT wash soap
Clay with Speedy Prep Towel (Fine) and ONR as lube
Wheels cleaned with Sonax FE
Tires cleaned with Eagle One A to Z
HD Speed via Buff and Shine green pad and Rupes 21/Griots Garage
LSP=HD Proxy
Tires dressed with Optimum Tire Shine
Leather cleaned with Zaino Leather Cleaner
Leather dressed with Zaino Z10
Raggtopp on the convertible top
Glass cleaned with NXT glass
Wipe down with CG Speed Wipe

I am still getting marring when using the Speed Prep towel. This is the third car that I have used it on and I made sure that I broke it in on glass. Thankfully HD Speed cleaned it right up.

Nice job. I have always been a Jag fan and I have been looking at a few. All the ones I have seen have had terrible paint. Could it be systemic on Jag paint? I have only looked at four, but the one you worked on looks typical for low mileage Jags. Great body style.

Nice job on that XK-8. I have always loved these cars! Just had to have one. To me they are one of the sweetest cars to grace the American highway! People do look at you snobby when I pull up in my black mirror. 000_2683.jpg

The XK-8 if not maintained can show its age quickly. The guy that painted my car didn't know much about sanding and buffing. Luckily, I did. This is my second Jag Coupe. For every seven convertible there was one Coupe made. Here is the other Coupe. 100_0431.jpg100_0438.jpg100_0439.jpg

There is only one thing better than a Jag Coupe, that is two Jag Coupes and a rare Cougar. 000_2308.jpg000_2304.jpg000_2307.jpg

I have been very blessed over the years. The Cougar XR-7 convertible is my car from high school. We enjoyed our 40th Summer in this car. Its not hard to tell I do have a car fetish. Hence the "paint correction" business for over 40 plus years. 000_2306.jpg
