I detailed this 2000 BMW 740iL. It was covered in scratches on every panel. I started it at 7:00 pm on Friday night and worked through till midnight. I had the garage door open and lots of lights on. I was getting inundated with mosquitos that kept landing and staying on all the top panels. I would blast them off with the air compressor but they'd come back after 30 seconds or so. I would have worked longer but the nuisance factor was too high. I don't know what the attraction to the polished paint is, but it is strong!! Finished the car on Saturday after 8 hours (7 on ext/1 on int). I'll let the afters speak for themselves.

The Process:

wash and clay with clay magic

wheels and wells got 303 cleaner initially and car wash soap after

1st tried SIP with green ccs pad to remove the scratches but was ineffective

yellow wool pad with Presta cutting creme @ 2300 rpm

Micro polish with blue ccs pad @ 1000-1500 rpm

RMG with gray ccs pad @ 1000 rpm

FMJ by hand

Collonite by hand (great duo for protection)

Interior got good vacuum, treat rubber mats, 303 to interior and wiped after, glass cleaned

Great job! Were all those spots on the BMW bugs? If they were like that on the car you must have gotten eaten alive!

Some gorgeous work there, the befores were awful! What was up with the rear bumper?

The owner backed up into something. I forgot to shoot an after shot of the bumper, but I got it 95% corrected..some were too deep.

Great job on that big car. Nice depth as well.

I think that bugs are attracted to freshly polished paint because of how much the surface looks like water/liquid which bugs are attracted.
