20 ways you waste money on your car

I think I did okay for a fisrts time zaino user. I mixed up an ounce of zfx/z5 and had just a little less than half left after two passes on the car and even one pass on the wheels. nice and easy to apply. working with the z6 was nice too. it's certainly slicker than anything I've used and I like being able to get away with not having to put masking tape over the black mouldings. If it lasts as claimed, I may switch permantly (well, I do need to see how I like it long term first). while it is slicker to the touch than the meguiar's medallion that I had been using up until now, I'm not sure there's much difference in shine. it might be too soon to tell, though.

:bow A BIG THANKS to the group for your help so far!

two coats of z5 with z6 finish.

and here's a picture from 3+ months ago after a fresh coat of meguiar's medallion. this pic was taken slightly later in the afternoon and has more JPG compression than the above pic. notice the reflection inthe driver's door in both pics? that's my white subaru forester about 25 feet away.

even if the shine and durability turn out to be the same as medallion, just working with the product may be worth the permanent switch. you really use this stuff sparingly for best results. I hope that this batch of supplies lasts a while and that it turns out cheaper than medaillion in the long run.

yes, I was impressed with the way z6 works. spray alittle on and wipe with one side of a towel. flip it over to the dry side and feel the towel glide on the surface.

<strong class='bbc'>Wait until you wash with Z7 and QD with Z6 a few times. This is where this product really accelerated ahead of others for me. [/b]</blockquote>:xyxthumbs

31st, glad to hear it's working out so far. I know you don't get impressed easily!! Let us know how you like the shine a few weeks later after you wash your car a few times with Z-7.

I love the Zaino system and the other guys are right it gets better with time. The ZFX works great with z2 or z5 and after a couple more coats the paint will appear to have a coat of glass over it:D I was wandering if you have thought about Z2 over the Z5 the Z2 is what I ended up using on my wife's white Xterra it just seems to add more of a reflective shine on white.I like the Z5 on my dark green truck it seems to add depth without to much shine.Great car:up Take care

nope, just z5. sal told me that other than the fillers, that both products are identical. he went on to say that unless you looked under a microscope that bother products would appear the same on the car. he did comment on the ability to tell them apart. I don't remember if he said that he could or that he couldn't, though.

thanks. the trick to get white to look good is to take the pic in the late afternoon (when I usually finish detailing anyway). that's my white subaru forester in the reflection on the door of the bimmer. :D it too has a good shine but still on the meguair's medallion system. in the below pic, the car hadn't been washed for a week.

yes, will do. I avoided zaino for a long time because of the blind fanaticism. I got tired of seeing so many posts by people who never detaild in their life but had received their zaino and the car (BMW on order) hadn't even arrived at the dealer yet. :sosad

Nice pictures, white is so hard to make shine.

Great Job

EDIT: Ever think about putting clear lens onto the car (where the amber parts are) ????

Nice bimmer!!! Aren't those wheels fun to clean and detail?? ;) But worth the effort. White is a tough color (?) to get to shine like that.... I'm thinking about taking the plate off the front of mine. I like the clean lines that yours has without it.

ha! I debadged as well. looks super clean. I zainoed the wheels as well. we'll see what happens over time. also on order is a gallon of EF-HI. if the zaino doesn;t work out, I'll just dilute this stuff and use it instead. I have some nice brushes that fit into the wheels pretty good.

occasionally but I'll probably pass on the clears until I can see a white sedan in person that had them (pics don't cut it). if I ever did, though, I *WOULD* leave the orange bulbs in (versus using clear visions or just painting them with some silver paint).

actually... no, you won't. too many children. I don't post there anymore.

thanks for the comment on my car. take care.

Anything in particular happen other than the usual jack@$$es?

Where are you hanging out noow.

I admit I haven't been on as much once the learning curve has steepened on my car now.

I installed my UGDO this week and just emailed Homelink to see if I can get the booster freebie.

by the way, I forgot to comment...

the bimmer did <strong class='bbc'>NOT[/b] need another coat of wax. the medallion was holding up just fine and was as shiny as could be. in fact, the car even looked good when dirty (you could tell how shiny it was even underneath the dirt - to a point - I'm talking totaly filthy here).

I had done the full three step meguair's treatment plus clay bar close to a year ago and have only added another coat of medallion every 3-4 months. I almost never use FI or any other QD. In fact, I have never applied a QD after waxing with medallion. though I still think zaino is slightly slicker to the touch, it's not that much slicker than medallion is when followed up by FI.

I post over at www.bimmerfest.com now. that's where most of the knowledgable people went. it's much like this board and even seems to use the same software.
