2.75 inch DA backing plate?

Here's another source for your consideration.

Backing Plates

I don't know who the owner is but he is one heck of a guy. I bought some of his pads a while ago (larger ones) and he emailed me at 2 oclock in the morning explaining how he packaged them up and shipped them out. The best service in the whole world, and if I could ever find out who he was, I'd name my next born after him, he's that good. They arrived super fast too. In perfect condition. OK, I'll stop, it's getting a tad thick. :)

here is the best I could find

a 2.75" rotary and an adapter

(use at your own risk, I would drill and pin them together)

Spot Buffs Pads & Acessories

I use a similar BP that attaches the same way (comes with the SM arnold spot buff kit). I wouldn't run it over 5 and I would also watch that it doesn't come "loose."

Typically, I just attach said BP to the rotary and use that for headlight polishing....

It wont be run over "2" as I'm using it to take on the sanding duties. The polishing will be done by rotary.

I got killer results over the weekend doing this by hand. Machine will make it not only more profitable but yield better results.

is it me?

I don't see a 2.75" inch DA backing plate

at excel/patricks site

You're absolutely correct BigJim, the excel ones are 3.5 inches in diameter. a whole 3/4inch larger than requested, which is only 3/8 larger in terms of radius and might be adequate. 3/8 inch isn't much.

Unfortunately anything larger than the sanding pad wont work in the instance. When it gets down to the finishing steps of sanding it's likely that the "hooks" on the BP will scratch the plastic lenses.
