Detailing Hobbyist
A few months ago I received some samples of Metallic Polish & Glanz wax. They sat in my garage until three weekends ago. I decided that it was time to give the 03 Grand Cherokee a final detail before the winter months. Previously I had used VM & Carnuba Moose which I liked alot.
Condition of Jeep:
1. No swirls and only a few minute scratches on hood.
Preparation:
1. Wash with Clearkote car wash. I just love the smell. Two bucket system using a sheepskin mit.
2. Clayed the surface with Claymagic.
3. Dried with CB and waffle weave.
Application of Polish:
1. Used a microfiber pad by hand. Next time I may try it with a PC to save time and effort.
2. Polish went on very easily with no problems noted.
3. Started with the hood and worked my way to the back of the Jeep.
4. Used a quality MF from CMA to wipe off and buff. Polish buffed off with ease.
5. The only negative thing is the strong chemical smell. Then again this product is not meant for consumption.
6. The surface was bright and felt smooth.
Application of Wax:
1. Used a Viking foam applicator.
2. Wax has a the consistency of water which can be deceiving. I made the mistake of applying too much wax to the hood which took longer to wipe off after it had hazed. This reminded me of SG. I applied the wax very thinly to the rest of car body.
3. After the car had hazed, I wiped off the wax with with a quality MF from CMA. With the exception of the hood, the wax wiped off very easily.
4. The Jeep shimmered and looked wet after I buffed off all the wax.
Overall impressions:
1. I liked the ease of application.
2. The metallic flakes on this Light Pewter Jeep really popped.
3. This product made the paint look wet and glass like.
Update:
1. Three weeks later and the paint has sustained three washes and no QD. The wetness is still there.
2. I decided to order this product and just received it this past week.
3. This product will probably be my main product of choice.
