1st wet sanding adventure today.

EZ Boy

No Woolpad Butchers Here!
Dragged out a panel and looked for a suitable blemish to wet sand. I dropped into the local hardware and score some 1200 and a sanding block. The 1200 was the finest they carried and as soon as I used it realised that it was too coarse for me to begin with. It took 3 VERY INTENSE workings of SSR3 to level out the sanding before I could begin the cosmetic leg of the work.

I showed a few clients and onlookers who's curiosity got the better of them and booked in the next 3 Saturdays for polishing and minor blemish work. Guess I'd better get real good real fast!!

:bigscream 1200:eek that's way toooooooo corse, great job though:bigups and you got more biz:)

I know, I know :wall. It's all I could get and I had the itch! Come on guys its just like that ugly chick at the bar that time...

The recovery was tough, I was a bit worried after the 2nd round of SSR3 had barely budged it. I though: "S**t, you've done it now".

1200 is way too coarse, and you'll burn your PC up trying to remove the blems......anytime you go wetsanding, expect a rotary.

Nice job removing the coarse marks ...
Hint ... next time you need paper go to an auto parts store that sells body shop supplies.
They should have exactly what you are looking for in paper and sanding blocks.
The handiest block I have used is from Meguiars. It is fairly soft and flexible.
Many times though I just triple fold the paper and wrap it around my fingers ... gives a lot of control that way. You just need to make sure you don't sand waves from your fingers into the finish.
I have found that it is fairly easy to remove 2000 or 2500 grit marks with the PC and a cutting pad using SSR 2.5 and depending on the paint even SSR 2.0.
I try to stay away from using SSR 3 with the PC cause I have gotten some undesirabe marks from it.
SSR 3 does work great with the rotary though.
Sorry for the long post!
