Hello everyone. Excuse my ignorance,I'm green when it comes to car care. Silver car.

I did the first detail of 2006. Washed, applied a coat of meguiar's #3 machine glaze (w/ PC), then a coat of Klasse SG (lasts a long time on my car). I steered away from the Klasse AIO this time and get a little more aggressive to remove some scratches that were acquired this winter.

My questions are:

Will the Klasse HGS work fine on the meguiar's #3 without the Klasse AIO coat? It looks pretty good, but just want to make sure the protection lasts.

The other thing, I plan on adding 2 more coats of the Klasse SG. I've read about letting the SG cure for at least 24 hrs beat coats. Can I just wait until next weekend and apply another coat, or do you need to apply the 2nd coat the next day?

Thanks,

Ted

I find SG to be extremely picky regarding what goes before it. I can only get it to last when applied over AIO and FPII (which I found surprising). I have tried WG, EX-P, and countless others w/o much success. Although I have never tried it over #3, I have a feeling that the oils would probably hinder a complete bond.

In regards to your last question, several users (myself included) have waited a week before applying the next coat of SG. As long as you wait the minimum 24hrs (give or take) and keep the car dry during this timeframe (the 24hr cure time), then you really shouldn't have a problem.

So how will I know if the sealant bonded or not? Water beads or doesn't?

If it doesn't bond, should I just apply a coat of AIO and start the SG coats again? Or a better question, what can I put on that will give me the most protection without having to polish-seal again?

I would always lay AIO down underneath SG, but that's just me. The two are designed for each other.

I guess I'll see what the beading looks like after the first rain. If it look good, I'll apply another coat of SG, if not, I'll start all over with the AIO then hit it with SG a couple times. This is what I get for trying to be creative, lol.
