1999 Lexus GS400 (black)

I finally detailed it after neglecting the car for months. I love the lexus non-clear coated paint. swirl marks are so much easier/quicker to get rid of than paint with clear coat (at least in my experience). I know my rear bumper doesn't look good, but it came with the car when I bought it. Nothing I can do now except save up for a paint job later on :D

no cc on a 99 gs 430? did not know that???

oh looks very nice good job

mine is a GS400. GS400 ran from 98-00. GS430 ran from 01+. Lexus added clear coat from 2001 and on. My car got the triple base coat treatment, which I prefer over teh clear coat. It looks deeper to me. :nixweiss

Looks very nice and you did an excellent job on it. Now you just need to get some 20's on that thing to make it really stand out. GS's are one of my favorites. Very impressive car for a not yet 19 year old. May I ask what you do to afford an expensive car at such a young age?

Thanks for the compliment!

GS's aren't that expensive anymore. I got my car at a steal for $13,500. My old car (1992 acura legend) was totaled because someone rear ended me and I got some case settlement out of it too. Plus I had some money saved already so really, it was either me getting this car, or put out another $3k for a new honda civic which i dread (I can't stand small cars, makes me feel too confined). :sadpace: I use to work at Southern California Edison (largest electricity company in Socal, if not california) as an engineering/administrative aid as a part time, but thats a year ago. Since then, I pursued to dedicate full time in college :D

Looks beautiful man. Great job. Ive been meaning to try out #83 via PC what are your impressions it?

I really like #83. I think that's my favorite polish for the price. I liked it so much that I bought the gallon jug. you dont need a lot of polish to polish the whole care. #83 doesn't like being on a warmer surface though. I had to set up a canopy otherwise the polish would dry up too fast.

I used #83 with my rotary on the hood because it had the most severe swirls compared to the rest of the car. The rest of the car, I used the PC because it's easier to work on the lower side of the door and bumper (handling rotary around those area isn't much fun).

:)

sweet. i'm driving a 92 acura legend at this moment... i don't like it. I'm more of a small car sorta person. How much did the canopy run you? I've been meaning to get one lately.

WOw, that's a mirror finished indeed. Do you have any direct sun shot of the hood?

Wow, only 18? Man, I was that age 21 year ago :(

I bought the canopy on ebay (EZ pop up) for $115 shipped. It's a 10x10 canopy. I bought it specifically because of its popup features. My old canopy had 20+ sticks to assemble. The worse part was if there was a little wind, installing became a lot harder. I was willing to spend $50 more to get a popup canopy that takes 5 minutes to set up.

No pics of hood shot in the sun :(

Quite frankly, I am not a photographer. I didn't know what pictures to take so I took random shots instead. :(

Was black the only Lexus paint to get the single stage treatment or did most/all pre 01 Lexus vehicles have single stage?
