Yesterday I finally got a chance to details my friend's bike. He picked it up back in Feburary and he washes it when it needs it but it needed a good polishing. It is a 1998 with 18,000 miles on it. The bike has some scrapes and some deep scratches but overall it came out pretty good. I'd say its 90-95%. Some of the scratches need wetsanding and I only brought limited supplies to his house.

Process:

Bike was washed when I got there so I just used ONR QD ration to wipe it down

4" LC Yellow with HTEC via PC @6

4" LC Orange with SIP @6

FK Pink Wax by hand to protect.

The Halogens were making it appear orange, but it is indeed red.

Thanks for looking.

looks good I know the crotch section of the tank can have some gnarly scratches turned out good, did the sip finish out clear with no hazing?

Squeaky: Thanks. I believe the upper fairing has been repainted as it was SS paint. The rest is BC/CC and is OEM as far as I can tell. Team Kawi Green isn't the only color they sell bikes in. The older ZX-6R's like this are quite common in red actually. Then again there are a lot of green.

Nstueve: Thank you. He actually has a static cling clear bra to cover most of the tank now that it was polished. The SIP finished out great.

Looks like you did a good first pass. I know from doing sport bikes it can take a couple of passes even if you are pretty aggressive with the PC. Lots of wear points on the plastic. Some bikes I have wondered about, but by the third time I did them they started coming out showroom. Thats about as good as you can hope for on a sport bike due to the lack of investment the factory puts in the base finish.

Not near as satisfying as a black TT though is it? Bikes can take a lot of work and don't tend to come out as nice as cars, but there is no interior to have to crawl around in and if you are big like me, that makes the difference!

Looking good! Love the red very nice. I can't wait to get my Kawi finished for the spring so I can get out and ride and save some money at the same time!

Lookin good, I'm in the process of fixing some stuff, cleaning and polishing my 00 ZX6R (in green of course haha) for this spring as well. Shes all naked in my garage right now, forgot what they look like all together.
