Hi guys,

This past weekend, I got to work on my coworker's 98 Civic that he had bought from another coworker. The car was basically never waxed, and was heavy in swirls. I'll let the pictures speak for itself.

Before Shot - After wash with NXT - It doesn't look bad under the shade.

Before Shot - Swirl City - Look again and this is through out the whole car

DIrty Paint. This is only from the hood. The roof was 3X as bad.

Process:

NXT Soap

Blue Clay w/ QD

2-3 passes of #80 w/ W8006 Pad

#21 w/ W9006 Pad

Exterior Trim Detailer

I think ^&04types is reffering to the fact that the original poster used Megs #80 which some claim to have heavy fillers/oils. Personally I think it is a great polish and have used it with great results. Were you using a PC or Rotary because the results are fantastic! Great job on the Civic! :up

Very nice work there mate, a supberb finish achieved on the black there. :up

Re: #80, while is does contain glazing oils, does not contain fillers and what it removes it removes rather than fills... do a quick wipe down with IPA after using it, and you wont see the swirls come back, if it contained fillers the IPA would strip them out.

Very noticable improvement! :)

I too, have had great success with Meguiars #80 and it does remove minor swirling effectively.

DSVWGLI - I do have #83. #80 was cutting perfectly, I didn't need to use anything more aggressive.

^&04types - In my first post, I mentioned that he bought this car from another coworker, so the new owner is more anal about black cars, that's why he asked me to clean it up for him first, cause there's nothing he can do even if he did have proper washing techniques.

looks great how long did it take you in total?

It took me about a total of 7 hrs. Not including interior.

Where did you get the extreme trim detailer? Does it last? How does #21 stand up to future washes?

You can pick them up at Pep Boys if you don't mind the higher cost, but they're always stocked. It is very long lasting, i love it!

#21 seems to be a longer lasting when two coats are applied.

wow very nice!!!! I have noticed that civics get really bad on the roof

i think Hondas in general have it bad on the roof. My brother's Accord is anyway.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Looks great!! Take some tire shine/foam, or Meguiars Shine cut down in a spray bottle and dress those wheel wells.

Nice work!
