1998 GMC Jimmy (Trashed interior)

Since I've been doing a lot of cars (8-10) a week, I've really neglected a lot of my families cars. This was my first car when I was 15, paid $1,000 from my uncle and then $2,500 for a new GM trans. Sold it to my dad when I was 16 for $5,000, lol. Its now one of the farm "beaters" and used for everything around the farm. It hauls hay carts, car trailers, anything you can put in the back, driven all across the midwest (sister snowboards) so its seen its fair share of abuse. It has 220,000 on and probably hasn't been cleaned since I sold it except for the occasional drive through wash in the summer. I did this at night (3 all nighters) in one of our smallest shops as all the rest are full of equipment/trucks so excuse the darkness/haze from the heat/water in some of the pics.

Exterior

2BM with Optimum car wash and grout sponge

Wheels/wheel wells/undercarriage cleaned with degreaser (tires scrubbed with brush) but rims/wheel wells/undercarriage just got rinsed after degreaser (I wasn't to concerned)

Jambs cleaned with degreaser

Interior

All interior plastic and door seals cleaned with Meguiars APC (4:1) and srubbed with a toothbrush and a swissvax brush look alike

Vacuumed with 6hp shop vac and brushed a ton

Spots pretreated with Folex

All carpets/seats sprayed down with Zep Premium Carpet and Upholstery Shampoo (excellent stuff, no foam really, cleans awesome)

Extracted with the BLGM till it all rinsed out

Went back over with the shop vac till carpets were about dry

Where I began...

Its no where near 100%, but its a lot better. Yes there still dirt in places and stains in places, but its not a show car. Didn't polish it as it wasn't worth it. Finally I'm done.

That was one of the NASTIEST vehicles I've ever seen. Nice work on the detail.

I would have charged SEVERAL HUNDRED dollars to do that job.

But regardless, nice job.

(P.S. I used to detail really trashed cars. I got "burned" on several trashed out vehicles until I started charging by the hour.... haha! Now I kinda specialize in classic cars, muscle cars, Vettes. )

Nice turnaround. You put a lot of work into this car and your family will appreciate it. I am amazed that you were able to clean up those door jams. They looked totally rusted.

wow... looks like they were mudding out on the west side of our state. nice come back and i hope folks will help take a little better care of it in the future

That is an excellent turnaround great work, by far one of the dirtiest car interiors I have ever seen except for this one car that I saw which was pulled from a river.

great job! I threw up a little in my mouth when I saw the inside :bigups on the turn around though!

I agree I would've charged SEVERAL HUNDRED $$ as well....

Thanks a ton guys! I love doing interiors, not so much into polishing as I don't have everything I want...Im just glad to be done. Now its off to find other farm trucks to start on.

Great job!! That thing was a pig!! You didn't say anything about polishing so was it "just" a wash on the exterior? Not to say that the wash you did wasn't awesome! Was just asking about the polishing and waxing?

Thanks guys! Yeah I am trying to convince the girl to move south/west...but she likes the snow. :hairpull

Thanks. Just a wash. The white looks bad, a lot of "rail dust" TONS of swirls, light scratches, etc, but no door dings, lol. And it has some rust here and there. Its really not worth it to polish it as its a farm truck and stuff is set on it all the time as well as driving through corn, bean, etc fields and down two track roads in the woods in the summer.

Truck looks great, huge improvement.

Not to take anything away, but I would have at least put some sort of sealant or wax on it though. I understand not wanting to put a ton of extra effort into something that's just going to get dirty, but this could have been an awesome test car for product durability.
