So no pics yet but in bout a week or so I`ll be doing a 89 vette with original paint and I`m wonder if that`s gonna be the acrylic laquer or another kind of single stage. And if you have any experience what process/equipment did you use and how hard orbeasy was it.

Trying to cut down experimentation time as I`m super booked this week for a father`s day car show

My father has an `89 vette. It has a hard clear coat like my Caddy. You may need a rotary if it`s in bad shape. I would expect to have to spend plenty of time on it.

So it has a clear coat instead of just a single stage. That`s interesting as I thought they really diddnt being clear coats to production lines till the early 90s, but good to know

His torch red car at least came in a clear. I don`t know about the other colors but maybe they all did.

I`d be very surprised if it`s single stage. My dad`s had acid rain damage and had to be wetsanded in some areas. There is some clear compromise in those areas. The red color comes up on those spots so I won`t try polishing them any more. The rest of the car has some pretty stubborn clear. There are some light scratches left behind I couldn`t remove.

Would you say tho that you`ve gotten pretty decent shine close to modern day cc or not quite that much

I got the car shiny enough to win first and second place in car shows. I just have to avoid polishing those areas with a little bit of clear failures.

So I`ve got a bike to do, a lowered Subaru legacy wagon, the `89 vette, a `02 vette and a `14 Ford turbo fusion which I just coated a few months ago to all have done by the car show

My 1989 Cadillac Coupe Deville showed BC/CC (base coat clear coat) on the RPO sticker located inside the driver’s door jamb.

So I just got the vette and I did a small test spot so I know what I`m gonna be doing on it tomorrow. I`m gonna be using the bf src compound on b&s euro fiber with my gg6". Smaller than a 2x2 area too

Makes me want to dust off my GG and try some more correcting on my dad`s vette. It seems to tackle that hard clear well....
