1986 Buick Regal

The Buick was revisited back in early December for a pre-sale demo and auto show, so the owner called me again to make it look the best possible. This car hasn’t been washed since the last time I washed it back in October. Now, as you will see, the car is covered in dust, scratches, swirls and holograms that were not taken out before and they need to be out! My process was the following:

Wash wheels and wheel wells with Dr. Mecanico APC(Local brand)

Wash with Meguiars NXT soap

Polish with OP and LC Orange with the PC

Wax with Liquido Souveran Policharged version

After 12 hours, a coat of OCW to seal the shine of LS

Tires dressed with Crystal Tire shine(local brand)

This is the day started for me(remember this is December)

And this is the condition of the car before

Now, this is some weird $#!t for most of you. This is actual wild lizard doo-doo making company to the good ole’ bird crap

SANY0549.jpg

Some more damage, you can actually see the holograms

I then started to work on the wheels. Dr. Mecanico was used full strength to make sure the tires were clean. In this pic you can see the APC working on getting the crud and dirt out of the wheel

And here’s right after a good scrub and drying

After this proceeded to wash the car and dry thoroughly, polish it with OP and an orange flat pad, which left the finish like this

That is after polishing, but before waxing.

Now after a hards day work, I applied the Souveran by hand and let it cure overnight. The owner came the next day at 9am to pick it up and take it to the auto show, but before he left, I applied a quick coat of OCW leaving the car looking like this

Afters

And to end it, 2 reflex shots. First one at the trunk lid and the last one the owner looking at the finish while I take the pic

Gotta love this one

Thanks for looking

Tremendo trabajo Bigfoot!!! Que linda es esa isla. Yo me vivi en Mayaguez casi 15 anos.

Tell me about Dr. Mecanico, I visit the island every year and have seen the yellow bottle. How acidic is it for wheels and tires. Have you had any issues with stains? Do you allways use it full strenght? I might have to bring a couple of gallons next visit.

Very nice job, great reflections. That car should sell with no problem. :xyxthumbs

It actually did, but for a lot less than what is valued: $4,000 and a 94 camaro with a little paint defect! :down

Gracias!

Dr. Mecanico is non-acidic, has a little carnauba to it and it can be applied straight to paint, even in full strength without worry of harming it. Very versatile product indeed. Well worth the money, since it's not that expensive at all, and can be diluted :spot

Very nice work!

I love 78-88 G-Bodies!

Thanks! Those bodies give a personality to the car, and make the look bold.

Whatever happened to buick? They used to be so great...

and of course good job. looks awesome...

Thank you! What happened to Buick is the same thing that has happened to most car companies: want to make profit, CEO's want their pockets full and screw the rest. Now guess why they are where they're at now :nervous:

Awesom job on the car. The after pics are great. I wish I had a chance to work on a vehicle like that.

Thanks. That type of car in that condition is very, very rare.

El carro se vendio asi de pronto por su efuerzo y gran trabajo!

My Dad lives in Hormigueros; I visit him several times a year. There's a Mr. Special a half-mile from his home that carries Dr. Mecanico. With the results you got, I may try sneak some back with me to New Jersey while I'm in PR this March! :woot2:

Gracias, broki!

If you find a Centropiezas, you will find it there cheaper. Also, you will find it there by the case, which brings it a lot more cheap.

hmmmm, seeing the great big tachometer and extra gauges and shifter....i hope theres some power behind that car and those arent just to make it look fast lol

Nice work !

I used to have a car like this. It was an 86 Buick Regal T-type. 3 tone grey color. It had the same engine as the Grand National, but wasn't all black and menacing. Heck of a sleeper car. But man did that thing have power. Still miss the car, as I sold it 13 years ago.
