1970 Dodge Dart Swinger - Hemi Orange

I'm quite certain this is the first one posted up here. Detailed this one for the same client who owns the Pathfinder and Copper FX45. He recently acquired this all original (sans the wheels/tires) example in Hemi Orange. Being all original, there were many defects that were permanent until replaced/refinished. Undecided whether he will keep it in current fashion or totally restore it, he wanted to see what a detail would do. We both agreed to save heavy polishing since some panels had rust and other defects that would take away from the finished product. My goals were to remove all built-up grime, polish away light defects, and use an LSP with oils to deepen the finish and hide minor defects. My finals were:

-Turtle Wax ICE via Glimour

-Dawn Wash

-Zaino Z18 clay (gently) with Turtle Wax ICE via Gilmour as lube

-TOL Tire Cleaner cut 1:1 on tires, wells

-P21s Wheel Cleaner on wheels, emblems, exhaust

-HTEC and #0000 Steel Wool on exhaust, taillights (were growing something funky)

-HTEC and MF towel on taillights following above procedure

-Zaino Z14 on all plastic lighting

-Zaino Z-AIO to polish wheels, chrome, headlights

-Clearkote RMG via PC and LC CCS Black Finishing Pad @ 6

-Zaino Z-CS followed by Z8 after dry on wheels

-Zaino Z16 on tires x 2

-Poorboy's Natty's Blue on paint, chrome, glass

-Sonus Carnauba Mist final wipedown

Reminds me of Clutch’s song, “Spacegrass:

Dodge Swinger 1973, Galaxy five oh oh,

All the way, stars' green, gotta go.

Dodge Swinger 1973, top down, chassis low,

Panel dim, light drive, Jesus on the dashboard.

T-minus whenever it feels right, Galaxy five oh oh.

Planets align, a king is born.

…

Nice job as always, Sean. :)

Not the first though, I posted a 1969 Dodge Dart about 3 or so years ago. ;)

I think there is one shot of it in my autopia gallery and a couple on my website. Really cool cars, the 340 is a lot more stout than most people expect. It was even referred to as the "baby Hemi" even though it had conventional wedge heads.

G35stilez- Great job on a great car :xyxthumbs Thanks for sharing this one.

Hope he doesn't do a full resto...a little rust work and it'll be fine for another 38 years, and they're only original once.

Accumulator is right, they are only original once.

The pendulum has swung back and now original cars are favored among collectors and are worth more than the newly restored examples.

Fix the rust and keep it original!

Beautiful job by the way!

That is exactly along the lines of what my client is thinking.

Thanks.
