CH.Detailing
What's a detail?
This car received a full, bare metal, restoration back in 1991. Since then the owner has taken it on multiple road rallies and track days all over the country. The owner really does a great job of taking care of it, and it shows. There was a fair amount of RIDS and light swirling that was reducing the clarity and shine of the paint, but given the age of the paint I was pretty impressed at how nice it looked.
When I showed up to start the detail the car was actually pretty clean, so I went ahead and did a single bucket ONR wash. It was pretty cloudy when I started so the car was looking pretty good!
After washing I rolled it inside and began to prep it for the correction.
Once I had clayed it, measured it, taped it, wiped it down with a light IPA solution, and removed some trim the sun had decided to reemerge so I rolled it outside to see what I could see.
The paint appeared 'hazy' and was lacking the luster it was meant to have.
The correction was done with Menz SIP on an orange LC pad via rotary for 2 passes, and was finished off with PO85rd on a crimson LC pad via rotary.
I can go a bit overboard with the tape sometimes, which I suppose thats better than being stingy with it.
