1967 Stingray Vette Show Car!!! (Tons of pics..56 death)

This was a short notice detail I did this past Friday. It was a referal from the Lotus Customer I had recently detailed for. The car is a 1967 Stingray Corvetter Convertible Show Car that has been in Hod Rod magazine and some others. Everything completely redone top to bottom and not a single aspect of the car overlooked. The owner called me and said sadly he is selling the car and needs it to be cleaned up before being shipped out on Tuesday to the new owner. Car obviously spends all the time in the garage under a car cover and the owner recently (about a month ago clayed it and put 2 coats of Zaino on it) He didnt have the time to give it a good detail so he called me up.



Paint condition was almost perfect as far as swirls, there were VERY MINOR swirls that you had to fish for in the light and he didnt really want any polishing done. Here was the simple yet effective process.



Wash Z7

I only had to clay lower panels and front end because of bugs and tar.

Proceeded to use RMG via PC and gray finish pad.

Applied Souveran paste wax by hand

Final wipedown with FK425

Wheels and tires cleaned with Meg wheel brightner 6:1 ratio and tires dressed with Zaino dressing.

interior got vacuum, woolite wipedown and leather got Z Leather conditioner.

Glass cleaned with stoners and all chrome wiped with F425.

Engine bay which was already clean got a simple FK425 wipedown as well.



Total time 5 hours. I spent a lot of time in nooks and crannies and taking my time. One of the most expensive cars I have ever touched and of course now I want one! :wow:



Unfortunately the sun wasnt playing nice and most of the day it was very over cast with the sun peaking its head out every once in a while so sorry for the poor pics.

Whew finally done.. I have lots more pics but these were the decent ones that I have resized.

Yea i know a lot of people are going to question the wheels and what the owner has done to the car but it still is freaking amazing...just remember to each its own. The engine and blower is obivously not stock... He said that he dyoed it at 425 rwhp and the car weighs in at 2700 pounds which he believes would turn low 10's in the quarter with different tire/wheel setup. He set up most of the car for handling not necessarily dragging.
 
I believe ALL the work was done about 1 1/2 years ago and it has about 4k on the "new clock" I would love to take guesses of what everyone think the car is selling for?!?
 
Beautiful car and nice job on the detail. A friend of mine purchased a 1967 Corvette Stingray that was a ground up restoration with every bolt being replaced with either stainless steel or chrome. It was put together by a local Corvette club as a tribute to it's owner who passed away from cancer before he was able to finish it. Those are awesome cars.

I had actually posted before you were done with the pictures. (since deleted) I commented about the wheels and the seats as being interesting. I was thinking it might have been an almost correct resto, until I saw the pics of the brakes and the S/C.



I'd hate to meet him on a dark straight stretch somewhere. :nervous2:

Yes the Mallett wheels would be the first to go "if" it was mine, but something else might not fit over the brakes.

He did invest A LOT of money....Im gonna take some more guesses before I say how much he spent :) Im talking about EVERYTHING from top to bottom plus of course all the labor and bodywork.
 
Wow, cool looking car! I'd have to think that motor with a blower could manage more than 425hp though? Although I'm not even sure what that motor is! I'd guess an LSx, but beats me... Nice detail!

Well I didnt have much time to fully go over his mods but the hood has LS1 badges on it and I guessing since it more of a show car the tuner didnt crank up the boost at all. I would imagine he is only running maybe 5 to 6 pounds or even less. Its mated to a 6 speed tranny but I didnt get specifics on it. I will email him soon to see which issue of Hot Rod Mag it was featured in so I can get the write up on it. Im pretty sure the motor could put out 500 plus but I think he wanted to keep it minimum for less maint issues.
 
That definitely looks like an LS1 or LS6. With 425rwhp, it's probably mostly stock internally given that charger on top. Maybe a really mild cam.
