1967 Corvette Stingray Convertible Exterior Detail (43 PICS)

I detailed this car today for my friend's stepdad, and DAMN it's a beauty. A perfect example of what a classic car should look like IMO.

He's had the car for, I think over 20 years and was not sure about the paint job (meaning he never had it done). It was definitely repainted since there were some light drip marks in some areas (underside of front bumper, etc) but overall it was very nice paint to work with.

Process:
-Wash with DP Four-In-One Rinseless Wash (did not want to hit the car with a hose, sitting water in a classic garage queen = a no-no in my book)

-Clayed certain areas with Wolfgang clay - only the horizontal panels on the front half of the car were rough. The rear and sides were very smooth.

-Meguiar's #105 compound on certain deeper isolated scratches/swirls with a yellow cutting pad, Flex XC3401

-Menzerna PO203 Power Finish for the entire car, with a green LC polishing/finishing pad, Flex XC3401; tight areas were done with a 4" green LC pad on the PC

-Wolfgang Fuzion Polymer-Carnauba Estate Wax

-Final wipedown with Optimum QD / Gloss Enhancer (really added some nice slickness)

-Meguiar's #105 compound on all chrome, Sprayway glass cleaner for final wipe down on all chrome and glass

-Mother's FX Tire Shine (had this sitting around from a long time ago so I decided to use it for a change - adds a nice black, matte finish)

Here is what the car looked like AFTER the DP Four-In-One rinseless wash:

That thing is gorgeous and nice work. I think it looked great after the DP wash but then the closeup photos of the marring revealed what you were working with. Nicely done.

Oh Man I had a roadster just like that but mine was Black and like a Dumb xxxx I sold it years ago.:wall

It had 13000 miles on it and I sold it for $3500

I love those old 'Vettes. That's probably my favorite of the old bodystyles. Never been crazy about the C3s and C4s.

Gorgeous work. :D

I like them all except the big ugly Butt C5 when they shortened the C6 and did away with all that overhang that made the C6 look much better.

The old ones are cool but the new one is WAAaaaayyy better car in every way.
