This Mustang came to us after it was painted. As you can see in the pictures, there was a lot of dirt to nib out, and several runs all over the car. Most of the runs had to be scraped off using a razor blade, then sanded flat. I used 1000-1500-2000 grit STARKE sand paper using a D.A. then polished out using Menzerna Power Gloss with white wool, Menzerna SIP with orange CCS, and finished with Menzerna 85rd using white CCS. No LSP was applied.

After Pics.

The car turned out really nice and the paintjob was saved. Sorry I didn't get more after pics. The car was returned to the owner and these were taken a few days afterwards. Thanks for looking.

Looks great John!

Seems like all I've been doing is wetsand jobs this past year...

At least it wasn't black!

Any idea what brand paint is was?

Thanks Rick, yes we do a lot of full wetsands. It had Dupont paint on it, which sands and polishes like a dream. I'm not sure which line of Dupont though they used.

JohnKleven- Nice save, I bet the owner was very happy. How was the paintjob otherwise...much bridging where stuff was sprayed while assembled?

Thanks Accumulator. Unfortunately, there was a lot of bridging on this one, but the owner was super happy regardless. It looks like I'll be getting several more Mustangs for sand jobs, I'll be sure to post them as they come in.

Yeah, I kinda figured they didn't really take it apart. And yeah#2, it looks like redoing older 'stangs is kinda a hot ticket there (seeing that wrecked one waiting its turn).

Heh heh, I worry that the painters will see your work and start cutting *more* corners, confident that you'll sort things out!
