This is my dads car, I learned how to drive a stick shift on this car many years ago, I finally had time to clean her up :)

The paint on this made me MAD, its 20 years old and never ever has been cleaned properly. I tired many different combinations of pads/compounds to try to buff out the swirls/imperfections but nothing really worked the way I wanted to.

I tried:

Orange Propel; OHC - nothing

Orange Propel; SSR.2.5 - little different

Green Propel; SSR.2.5 - better

Ended up using Green Propel with 3M Compound, Followed by Blue Propel with OPT polish and AIO on a Blue Propel. Also there were deep blackish waterspots on the car, I couldnt get rid of, any ideas?

 Awesome car!

Interesting you had to go down in pad aggressiveness to get better results-were you having any hazing issues with the more aggressive pads?

Yea, alot more hazing, and the aggressive pads were cutting in the paint, the paints were ALL red.

That is one nice TR3. My dad had a few of those back in the late 60's and early 70's. Unfortunately I wasn't old enough to drive then. :(

Beautiful Work. The car is in excellent shape too.

Now come do mine (or buy it, $4k):
