1956 Ford F-100

First ...

The paint was a gorgeous pearl blue, but the final detail during the restoration left something to be desired. Quite a bit of overspray and a failure to wet sand the uneven ares of paint was now my problem.

Each panel...

Had some correctible flaws and I used a combination of 1200, 1500 and 2000 grit paper with Meg Power Cleaner compound to work these out.

Paint continued...

I buffed the entire truck at 1750 RPMs with a Blue pad and Meg's # 80 before sealing with Poorboys EX and topping with AM's EZ paste.

The wheels were polished by Mother Aluminum and magnesium polish and a lot of elbow grease.

Beautiful work! Did you have to polish inside the bed? That can be a real pain!

Was the paint SS or BC/CC?

How much do you feel that the EZ paste wax adds to the EX? I have never tried it.

Seven hours without breaking is a long time to work on a car. I usually really feel it by then.

I am sure this never happens to you, but I have actually had my calves begin cramping up at about the 10 hour mark. I guess I need to get in the gym like you!

Paint ...

Was clearcoated.

The bed was a pain. It needed a good compounding everywhere.

The EZ paste is similar to Meg's #26 just easier to remove. It was named correctly. I think it gave the paint just a little more of that carnuba glow.

Thanks.

AWWW RIGHT - your learning - now if we can get you into the wife beater and out of the jean shorts ;)..yes I SAW THEM! -

amazing man - I kept looking at it thinking why is there product squirted all over the side - until I realized it was the reflection of the tent legs!! - U are my HERO :)

looks great....
Did you do the wood bed, and the engine bay?
7 hours is a long day by hand, but the looks are well worth it :bigups

"J"

Wood...

Luckily the wood was in excellent shape !!!

I did the engine by hand, but I am looking for some alternative tools for the future engine details.

Any suggestions ?

Wow, what can I say but....WOW! Tell me, was it difficult wet sanding with all those fender curves and such? I've never wet sanded but I would think the more curves, the tougher to get things nice and level.

Thanks for posting the pic! It takes me back to a long time ago when I would ride with my grandfather on his ice-route, in an early 60 something Ford stepside similar to that one (minus all the mods of course LOL).

Simply Stunning.

That paint is glowing wet!

Did you have to buff the inside walls of the bed?

I know the thing is fast, but how fast? :D

I read on autopia that mop and glow was good for engine cleaning and detailing (leaves an acrylic shine???????)
