Will be detailing this in the morning. Just the outside...
Friend bought it, and now wants to sell...:hmmm: Dunno why. He sold his 1950-something pickup to purchase this.

Said he wants the outside cleaned up. Going to be tricky, since it is a repaint as well.. Scratched and oxidized up. Single stage paint.

I would be real careful with that one as that paint might be pretty thin....I would start by hand with some mild polish and see how that reacts on the paint...the top parts are not going to look as good as the sides...then I might look at using a PC, polishing pad....the rotary might burn threw the finish....with SS paint that's a common problem if your not careful...you going to be red all over by the end of that job....don't ask me how I know this
 
hahaha, I did a black Mercedes with SS paint....I had black everywhere.

As far as the process....I'll figure something out. He just wants it shiney....not worried about all the scratches

I cut my teeth back in the day with compounds, wool pads and SS paint...worked right it really can look as good as CC but its a PITA to keep up that way...Don't forget to post the afters tomorrow
 
Well, it certainly looks like you'll have your hands full with this one. Good luck and make sure to post up some after shots.
 
OK fellow detailers. I ALMOST finished it up today.

The paint was in bad shape. It was actually cracked everywhere. It looked like that crackle type paint. A repaint is the only way to fix it.
The repaint is also not the best. It is actually dull in some spots where it was not painted right. I was just asked to make it shine. I pointed out the imperfections of the paint and said that they will not come out.

Here is a pic of what I am talking about. I buffed it twice with the rotary and a wool pad. Both times with a medium duty compound at 1400-1800 RPMs.
Then gone over with the PC twice with a medium duty compound followed with a light duty compound.
Still looked like this. This is not a pic of swirls and spider-webbing, but how it looks from the cracked paint.

I still need to do the roof and finish the other half of the hood. And part of the drivers side quarter panel.
 
Wow, huge improvement!! That whole side shot is amazing. Too bad the paint isn't in better condition, but the owner did get the shine he wanted. Great work Chris.

BTW I like the garage :)
 
I knew the sides would come out good but the top would be cracked from neglect, sun damage and all....still a great job none the less and I'm sure that he will be happy
 
Nice job!! Looks good! Good pictures. It would be a happy situation if I were the owner. Hope the real owner is happy.
