This was sort of a last minute detail for a customer of mine. He needed the paint detailed before a show this weekend, they were leaving for Jackson, TN this morning. I arrived on the scene at about 6:00 p.m. Thursday night and proceeded to buff until about midnight.



The paint was soft and fairly easy to correct, it had moderate swirls and marring as well as a ton of leftover sanding marks from the body shop. The owner uses sheepskin mitts to wash with so I think the majority of the marring came from pushing the limits of detail sprays.



At any rate, the process was:



Quick detail



Apply Meguiars #84 compound power cleaner via the rotary polisher @1500 RPM’s with a meguiars polishing pad



Apply Meguiars #80 speed glaze via PC @ speed 5.5 with a meguiars polishing pad



Seal with Meguiars #21 by hand via a black magic foam applicator

Incredible looking paint ruined by a body shop. Amazing they can lay down a paint job like that, wetsand it smooth but can't buff it out properly.



Superb work as always, the after shots show incredible, flawless clarity! :bow

The lighting was decent, but for detailing, much more would be required. I believe the reason that it looks so bright is becasue of the camera. I actually have been trying to learn to shoot outside of "auto."

I am sure that there is something that I could have done to make it turn out better, but I am a complete noob at camera settings.



The only lights in the garage were the two fixtures in the ceiling.

Scott, I totally agree, they paint quite well, but the sanding/buffing is a big problem. Hopefully this job will turn into a few more, the owner said that all of his friends have their cars built by this shop--they all have the same problems. :D
 
Simply stunning. But I must correct you. It's a 47-53 chevy/gmc. I'm guessing later model due the v-butt windshied. That's my dream hotrod right there. Needs to be lower though!
