1941 Ford truck

The owner of this '41 Ford called me a few days ago about getting his truck cleaned up for the Leake auction in Dallas this weekend. Based on the forecast this weekend (rain that started tonight and on and off through Monday) I knew my regular wash customers on Thursday wouldn't bother getting their cars cleaned so it was nice to fill the day back up with work.

It's a really nice truck but definitely not a #1 vehicle, probably a solid #3 though. Plus it needed to be finished by 3 to get it on the way to Market Center before afternoon rush hour got into full swing. So, no all out balls to the wall correction here. He wanted the engine cleaned and whatever chrome I could access polished, felt the paint could have more depth and the interior just needed some freshening up.

The paint is a modern base coat/clear coat finish and orange peel was pretty minimal. Tons of contamination to clay off and lots of spider swirls. The clear coat was on the soft side so I got out a lot more than expected given only enough time for one polishing step.

Engine and engine bay cleaned with a combination of ONR and Optimum Power Clean @ 3:1 dilution

Chrome was polished with Optimum Metal Polish

Interior was vacuumed, painted surfaces cleaned with ONR Wash and Wax at 32:1 dilution, carpets cleaned with Optimum Carpet Cleaner at 3:1 dilution, ONR dampened MF towel wipe down on the rest of the interior surfaces.

ONR wash, Opti-Clay yellow (mild)

Optimum Hyper Polish using a 5" test Optimum orange foam waffle pad and Rupes 21 DA

Optimum Opti-Seal

Armor All on tires

Yeah, color is a bit off but it would have been worse with my digital camera...I think its time to upgrade my camera and cellphone!

Thanks for sharing!  With a little chrome, or maybe an edgier paint job, I could see this truck in a ZZ Top video ; )

Still riding?

Thanks, y'all!

Haven't been riding as much lately, we've had rain and cold lately and like Tim pointed out, this weekend will be particularly nasty. We need several weeks of dry weather for me to catch up, let alone spend time on my bike.
