1941 Ambulance, 1946 Ford truck HOT RODS!!! *56K* NOOO!!

EBPcivicsi

GOT PREP?
Man, these cars were really cool to detail. The curves, molding, and chrome accents made them a bit of a pain to buff, but I made it. :p The cars are driven to and from the shows that they enter, otherwise they are stored in this barn/gage. It’s really pretty coolup front you have stables for the horse, then in the back (separated by a sliding door) you have a tiled garage with a drain in the center..hmmmmm. :D The cars are completely restoredframe-off. The guys who build them can fabricate, weld, paint, etc fairly wellthe car is well built, but they can’t buff worth a flip!! The cars had left over sanding marks, holograms, you name it. It was my job to correct all of this.

I am not 100% sure on the year of the ambulance, someone please correct me if I am wrong.

The process for both vehicles was the same as both of them were painted with the same paint system and basically had the same defectsthough the ambulance was a little worse.

For both vehicles:

Quick and easy wash

Tape off

Clay front to remove bug residue, spot clay the rest

Apply Hi-Temp Extreme Cut/optimum polish (both products placed on the pad at the same time). Thank you Sean for recommending/inventing this combo, wow what a difference!!!

Apply Menzerna final polish II via PC @ speed 5

Apply two thin coats of Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant/OCW (ambulance). Truck got two thin coats of Trade Secret paste wax, then an application of OCW

Tires are dressed with Poorboy’s bold-n-Brite

All metal, chrome, etc polished with Meguiars NXt all metal “polysh

Great work! If I were going to the hospital I would definitely want the ambulance to have a 'vette engine under the hood! :) Your photos are SO clear. There must have been some great lighting in that barn and you must have a nice camera.

It's great to see all these old cars on here lately. Sometimes I get tired of seeing cars on here that I can see outside my front door.

Thanks man!@!

The camera is a Canon SD400, all sots in auto. The garage had three 8ft Fluorescent tubes, but it had four huge windows that flanked the vehicles.

Those are some really cool vehicles and great details to go with them!

That ambulance is a TON of real estate

I'm not really one for older older vehicles, but ho-ly sh1t.

I am blown away by how *new* they look.

You are a miracle worker.

Your level of perfection continues to amaze me. :)

Those have got to be some of the coolest vehicles I have seen posted here, exotics included!

what pad did you use to cut the paint?

Excellent as always. :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs

HT extreme cut, cuts like PG or #85, finishes like OP. I never leave the house without it.

Thanks guys!!!

Great looking cars -- the curves are fun. The area on the 41 between the hood and fenders are always a real challenge and that is where it will show the quality of the detail and a car show. Looks like you nailed it!!!

Second... what kind of shop lights and stands are those?

I believe his worklight is the Sears Craftsman 1000 watt Tripod Light with Portable Stand(2 x 500 watt bulbs). I just picked one up for $30. It, or some variation of it, should be readily available from Sears(obviously), Lowes, Home Depot, or any store of that variety. They're all around the same price.
