17 year old Sunburst Yellow Miata

This car belongs to a 65 year old. It has been modded, and he drives it on Miata cruises. I think the car was last waxed 3 years ago!!! It had some issues. Oh yeah, plus it was single stage (and I have the pads to prove it).

Process (interior)

Wasn't bad, just vacuumed, wiped down with Quik Interior Detailer, and then Meguiar's Natural Shine dressing.

Process (exterior)

QEW wash

Clay - Meguiar's white clay

Alcohol wipe down - didn't want any residue to make the SIP act up

SIP was used with a yellow Meg's Solo foam pad (900 - 1500 - 1000rpm)

A few areas had to be hit with M105 and a yellow Meg's pad

SIP was followed with M83 and a yellow Meg's pad (1000 - 1500 - 1000rpm)

I then wiped the car down again with alcohol

The car was then buffed with the PC (speed 6) and ZPC with a white LC pad

LSP - 3 coats of ZFX'd Z5 pro were applied, with Z6 wipedowns in between

A final Z8 wipedown was done

Notables:

several 4" LC pads were used on the rotary for various things. ZAIO was applied to all the doorjambs, the exhaust pipes, and the strut bar under the hood.

Interior wasn't bad...but I did pull all this stuff out (strewn about)

Car had a bra on it - this wouldn't wash off

But it would buff off

Here's a 1/2 shot after only using SIP

Here are some afters

Wow, that came out fantastic. The car looks new! Good job, how long did your process take?

Thanks - I probably had about 10 hours in it over 2 days. It has been really hot here, so I wasn't moving as quickly as I normally do.

Good job. Put its hard to see damage on that color paint.

And is it just me or is that car just plain ugly? I've never been a fan of Miata's. Although you can make those little guys fast as hell, I saw one with a Nissan SR20DET and it was pretty sexy.

Anal1 - Thanks - the pads were FUN to clean

iDetail - yeah, some people love Miatas, others flat out hate them. I am personally not a fan of yellow, but the owner actually collects Miatas. He gave me a brief history - apparently only 1500 were made in yellow (keep in mind this is a '92), so there aren't many left. That was his reasoning for getting this yellow one. The thought did pop into my mind that it looks a little like a bumble bee - LOL

Scottwax - Thanks...I was happy with the way it turned out. I spent an hour on my test spot figuring out what to do.

Weekendwarrior, you did a wonderful job on this Miata. Your work has showed the beauty of this car perfectly. It seriously looks brand new. :2thumbs:
