This Murano belongs to friends of mine, and they asked me do a full correction about a week ago. As you can see from the befores the car had substantial spider webs and randomn marring. I had figured the paint was going to be extremely soft as the owners of the vehicle keep all of their vehicles in excellent shape, but for some reason this Murano's paint had been hammered. However, it turned out to be the opposite, the clear was extremely hard on this car, I'm guessing something got on a mitt, or the well water they use has contaminants in it. Needless to say it took 16 hours to correct the paint, I finished at 4am, and I'm still not happy with it. I really needed to compound this paint, or at least use SIP and a CCS yellow pad, but at the moment IP and an orange pad were the best I had. There was also alot of grease left behind by the 1Z that was a pain to deal with and some slight hazing that may be just the oils as well.
Process is as follows
Wash
Clay
IP @ 1450-1500 rpms Orange CCS
OP @ 1200 rpms White CCS
FPII @ 800 rpms Red CCS
FMJ via PC Red CCS
1Z Einszett Glanz Wax via PC Blue CCS
Befores...
Car looks pretty good at some distance...
But get a look in the sun
The entire car was covered in spider webs and some really deep marring.
This is after 2 passes with IP on the rear panel. There are some slight trails visible in these pictures.
After that I really didn't pick up the camera much anymore. The hood took over an hour with just the IP and probably 8 passes to get out about 95% of the marring leaving just some deeper scratches.
And here are the afters...
and some sun shots from this morning when I was taking it back (only 3 came out)
You can see the oils left behind by the 1Z. It was my first time using it, and it wasn't the easiest to remove, but I got most of that up and anything left will come up the next time I wash the car.
