VM + 2x EX-P + #16...twelve weeks ago on white.

Washed weekly NXT, rained on 5-6 times, and only Final Inspection after wash and sometimes mid-week to remove very light dust. Sunny 80-100 F. Garaged after work and weekends.

Sealant holding up very well visually but slickness hardly there. I'm assuming the #16 is gone by now.

TODAY: Sheeted water well on slopes and sides and decent beading where flat. (Sorry,no pics...maybe next week.) Slickness mostly gone but EX-P "look" is still there. (EX-P Slickness very good in the door jam areas!)

Might go a few more weeks out of curiosity...but, ready to try something else, if ya know what I mean. :usa

No I really dont know what you mean? Are you saying you are not happy with this combo, and you want to try something else for durability purposes? Or just curious what other products will produce?

Isn't FI supposed to have alcohol in it? I forget which Meg's QD does. But I hear one of them hurts most LSP's durability.

Your right, COBRyan! It isn't clear. Are you sure you want me to answer this? If not, turn back now. I'm going to ramble on a bit...really.

Not happy? Absolutely happy with VM and EX-P! Durabilty? It's everything I hoped it would be but not a big deal if I get three good months during the summer heat. I like waxes (#26, #16, etc.) in the ha, ha, "winter" here in southern New Mexico. A cold day is in the 50's. Most days 60-70's. It's fun to use a different wax/polish combo every 4 to 6 weeks when you have great weather like this!

[ I detail more often in fall-winter-spring when I go 4 wheeling...get out the 1:100,000 maps, get the family, picnic/camping stuff, hiking boots, fishing rods, the gold pans maybe and go where no one else hardly goes. If you always live in the city you might not understand or are not familiar with the "rules of the West"...like when you can cross through someones gates or how to talk to ranchers and get permission if the are locked. Leave them cows alone! Don't be in a hurry and have bad manners. It also helps to know what's BLM, Federal, State and private land and what you can or cannot do in each. There's a lot of beautiful near-wilderness you can get to in NM if you can read a geological survey map and you know how to, as my Navajo friends would say, "walk in the beauty way." I'd rather break down in New Mexico than East LA, you see. But...I'm drifting... ]

I'm not in a hurry to try something else or something "better" but there are 4-5 super-light "scratches" on the VM/EX-P Accord I might have created during washing and QDing that I'd like to see gone. Not curious about trying something else either except maybe FMJ if I get it from Santa. I'm just restless and ready to DO SOMETHING besides wash and QD the car and truck. I don't do my friends cars in the hot months. Sealants in the summer limit detailing in the heat. That's my reason for wanting something to last at least three months, maybe four.

Detailing is a hobby and not a death march or addiction for me. It's my "gym" that keeps me active. I only have to please me. I've only started using sealants this summer. Carnauba waxes always look fantastic to me and I can play around with combos more often. I used to wax my truck, three weeks later the Acura and then three weeks back to the truck. (BTW, the black truck has 11 weeks of WG on it and looks great! Picture to follow.)

Curious with combos? Yes, in a putter, pittle and play sort of way...like a cook with a whole self of spices. I have some SSR1 or FP that I want to PC on some poorly done dealership buffing after a lot "ding-dong" who couldn't get the gas nozzel in my wife's new Accord scraped the paint!!! Haven't needed to PC the Accord and not being a hand-done pro like Scott or having Anthony's rotary skills, I'm going to do something I was hoping I would never have to...PC polish out a bad memory on my near perfect paint.:sosad (Don't we all wish our paint would stay perfect with just a light hand polish and wax?) I don't have to be a fanatic-mechanized-volks-storm-polisher to enjoy the "art". I really resonate with those people who post here that you can tell have real passion for their "art". Don't you?; Pros or hobbyists that have soul. Many show that passion in their tag lines. i.e. "I love the process that..." You know who they are. BTW, there's something classic about doing things by hand...The 1990 truck is my problem child that needs the PC from years of 4x4ing in the mesquite deserts, scrub oak mesas and green mountains of New Mexico.(189,000 miles). Always needs attention.

Well, pretty long winded answer. What do you expect from someone in "fly over country"? Sorry if it wasn't what you wanted to hear. Hope your not bored, baffled or offended in any way but I wanted to explain a little about my views on durability, combos and what makes me "ready to try something else." Thanks for asking the questions my friend and happy trails!:usa

Don't have a picture right now of the VM/ EX-P

Here's 11 weeks WG.

I don't know. First time I have heard this. (I've used FI, #49 and WG QD on the WG truck... and Poorboys S&W).

I didn't notice any problem with FI or S&W on the EX-P. Maybe Mike or someone else can answer this?

Great reply to my question MartyGrant! I can totally understand your issue with the heat and durability. That seems to be my dilemma as well here in California where it is 100+ everyday in the summertime. Carnaubas are a big no-no right now. As a matter of fact, I am about to put on a coat of SFP and EX-P on my Cobra in about an hour when it cools down! Still debating on whether I will top with a CMW or just let it be with the EX-P

I hear that, COBRyan! That sunset window of time is when I wash and I don't mind getting soaked. (Usually finish "in the dark"!)

"Cure" the EX-P tonight and CMW tomorrow! Sounds like a winner and post some pictures, please! :up
