105/205 prep question

Hi ALL,

i AM GOING TO BE HITTING MY CHEVELLE WITH SOME M105/205. Right now the car has a healthy dose of Zaino on it. Do I need to remove the Zaino with IPA prior to using the 105/205 to prevent interaction with the polish?

Also, do I absolutely need to clay the car prior to the polish?

Thanks !,

Mike

pretty sure the 105 will remove the zaino pretty quickly.

as for the claybar, do the plastic bag test (stick your hand in a plastic bag, run fingers over paint, if it feels gritty, then you need the clay)

+1 on that.

Although M105 would remove any previously applied waxes, it is essential to remove the existing LSP by stripping it with either a strong car soap, bodyshop solvent, or alcohol solution.

Working any sort of polish into the paint without removing the LSP would cause an immense amount of dusting and pad gumming.

And you would want to clay the car as well. The contaminants stuck on the paint could easily cause very fine hazes on the paint if you polish on top of them.

Dont worry about removing the Zaino.

And its not ABSOLUTELY necessary to clay, as some of the contaminants will be removed by the polishing process, but do it if you dont want to jack up your pads

and ensure complete removal of contaminants.
