Over the past month I have been adding a layer of Ultima to my car every couple of days. I now have about 10 layers on there and the paint looks remarkable. (I'm sold on Ultima) Yesterday afternoon I gave it an ONR wash and added another layer of UPGP. I took these pictures today after I had driven about 40 miles...

The car looks amazing. I love Ultima, and it is the only sealant I use nowadays. However, I am not sure that 10 layers would make a difference. A lot of people here (including myself) have found that 3 - 4 layers is optimal, and that after that there is no additional benefits in terms of looks. My recommendation would be, keep it to 3-4 layers and top it with Zaino Z8 instead. You will love the look and save a lot of Ultima PGP (which is very expensive). Good job with that car though.

Thanks... but there is no way I will ever top Ultima with Zaino, Ultima looks to good on its own. (If I wanted my car to look like plastic I would just put a clear bra over the whole car... Only Kidding) I believe what I will do now though is use Ultima Detail Spray Plus after washes and apply Ultima PGP about every month or so.

That would do it also. Once a month is good. Trust me, Z8 will make your Ultima even better. It adds more wetness and depth. I am not a Zaino fan myself, except for the Z8. Have you tried Fk 425 QD? Works great also on Ultima, IMO, better than Ultima QD Spray.

Have not tried Fk 425 but have heard only great things about it. (it will be in my next order) I don't have Z8 on hand but do have Duragloss Aquawax, so I will try that after the next wash.

Looks great!!!

I have to make a comment/observation. I have Ultima as well. The shot of you holding the camera shows orange peel. I feel that Ultima amplified the look of orange peel on my cars.

I will say that it is extremely durable and easy to use. I find that a wipe down between layers with the detail spray brings out the best.

Not just Ultima, but sealants in general will magnify the underlying paint structure, which is why it is important to polish before applying a sealant as it will bring out any existing swirl marks and any other paint defects. In my own experience, I have found that BMW's are notorious for having orange peel.

I understand that sealants enhance imperfections. I just feel that Ulltima brings them out a little more. It's a great product for ease of use and satisfactory results. Of course my cars looked the best using waxes, but I could not stand the lack of durability.

Ultima is the only sealant I use. I love this stuff. I recently experimented topping it with Cleakote Carnauba Moose Wax, and the result was amazing.

I top mine with z8 with great results. I am not knocking the product, just making an observation on how it reflects light.

I do too. I love Z8. I keep up the look with it every week.

Being an obvious fan of Ultima PGP... (see thread)

I found that 4 to 5 layers is where additional coats of PGP stop making a difference.

I found that after the last coat, polishing with an ultra thick and soft MF makes a noticeable difference.

I found that the Ultima QD is maybe not so great. However using Optimum No Rinse (ONR) to wash and QD the car is THE way to go. WOW! Coupled with UPGP it is simply amazing!! Check into a gallon of it, I guarantee you will be happy you did.

I found that when applied correctly to a carefully prepped surface (like yours) UPGP has amazing durability.

You really impressed me with your work and final product!! Good job man!!

Thanks for the comments...

Unfortunately even on BMW's there is heavy orange peel. The only part of the car that has been wetsanded is the trunk. I wetsanded it about 5 months ago becuase of some deep water etching and scratches. Now it looks alot better than the rest of the car but without a paint thickness gauge I am not wetsanding any other part out the car.

KnuckleBuckett- Thanks for the tips. I had read your review before and I now do polish the car with a thick microfiber after I apply UPGP. I had also read where people weren't noticing any difference after the 4th coat, but if you ask me it got a little better after every coat. (Probably in my head) As far as ONR goes that is what I usually use to wash...

Here are a couple more pics... (please excuse the light marring, the paint is butter soft)
