First up, 2005 Lamborghini Gallardo with about 5k miles. This detail was completed on Wednesday. I arrived and started working on the car around 8am. The underground garage area I was working in the lighting is very dim. Under the lights the car looked pretty good, so I proceeded to wash and clay (surface was pretty contaminated), then pulled the car back under my halogens and WOW. There were buffer trails on almost every square inch and deep marring everywhere. I called the owner letting him know it was going to take a few more hours then I had estimated before seeing the car under halogens.

Fast forward…. The car was one of my most difficult details I have completed. Besides its conditionl; the contours, angles and crevices/vents of the car was a major PITA! I took paint measurements and the paint was only reading on average around 105-115 (a “normalâ€ car is usually is at 135ish). Either the paint on Lambo’s are very thin (which I think is the case) or the previous detail guy took massive amounts of clear coat off buffing it. Either way it turned out to be quite the project.

I spent 14 hours (8am – 10pm) on the exterior only!! I didn’t even touch the interior. I was going to get to it the next morning since I knew I had to come back, but the owner had already taken the car out and told me not to worry about until the next time I get a hold of it.

Final process:

Wash and Clay

HTemp EC with Yellow heavy cut pad @ 1500rpms (only on flat panels away from hard angles and small areas)

HTemp with Orange cut pad @ 1500rpms

Menz IP/FPII (70/30) with white CSS polish pad @ 1500rpms

Menz 106FF with blue finesse pad @ 1500rpms -> 900rpms

4 inch orange cut and white pads were used through out where the 6 inch pads could not fit (which is about half the car lol)

Re-Washed

LSP = Zymol Destiny

Tires got Z16

Interior: Nothing done.

Overall the car still needs some work, I only got the finish to *my personal* 90% satisfaction considering what I had to work with. The owner was very pleased and that is what counts in the end obviously. He took the car out before I got there, but came back an hour later around 9am and that’s when I was able to snap the outside pics.

PICS!!

After doing the Gallardo, I returned today (Thursday) to complete his wife’s 2001 Mercedes E320 with about 45k miles. You thought he Lambo was bad??? This was way worse. Buffer trails, DEEP marring, scratches, heavy contamination, you name it. The only good thing about the car, the panels are pretty flat and big. This was much easier to polish then the Gallardo. ***BUT*** before I started to polish I took paint measurements….the average paint reading was about 75-100 here and there (the front driver door and driver side quarter were reading 140-150 indicating repaint in this situation). Close to perfection was not the option for this car. I did what I could….

I started on this car at 8am and left at 9pm.

Final process:

Wash and Clay

HiTemp EC with yellow cut @ 1500rpms (low pressure)

Menz IP with white CSS polish pad @ 1500rpms (x2 light passes)

Menz 106FF @ 1500 rpms -> 1000rpms

Re-Wash

LSP = Souveran

Tires dressed with Z16

Windows cleaned with Spray Away

Interior: (Was already decently clean)

Vacuum, spot cleaned carpets with Folex

Leather cleaned with Lexol and treated with Z10

Everything wiped down with Woolite/water mix

I started on this car at 8am and finished at 9pm.

Since I would not see the car in the next day I had to only get in garage pics. They turned out pretty good…I tried to get that “Picusâ€ quality indoor shots ;)

Well, after two days of 27 hours labor, my back is killing me. I have two more black cars today (Friday) and Saturday!! 4 Black cars in a row wwhhhhyyyyy!! lol. The pics I posted above were taken with my "new-to-me" Nikon Coolpix 8700 which is about 3 years old. Pretty good camera. I set the Aperture and Shutter Speed on AUTO and ISO at 50.

:goodjob amazing turn-out. Both look deep and wet!

Man that merc was a swirl fest. Black paint is so nonforgiving for any and every defect.

the after pic of the benz in the garage is awesome. It kinda looks like one of those photoshop pics when they do a transparent hood to show the engine. The light and ceiling look like they are three dimensional going into the hood!

ohh my gosh. both cars were just beat the f up. very nice recovery on em. the afters of the gallardo are just mind blowing. hahaha i also noticed the after garage shot of the benz reminded me of the almighty Picus. but damn amazing work.

The before shots on both were :nervous2:

Your work on black paint is exceptional.

Both cars look *drastically* improved.

Awesome job, and I mean AWESOME! :drool:
