First time with an orbital buffer, first time with Vanilla Moose! It turned out pretty well, but I should have clayed it first. Ah well, next time. Not really a full featured detail, but a nice wash n wax.

Color is Dark Blue Metallic

PC with grey pad / Vanilla Moose then Quick Shine

3M Marine Vinyl on cladding / bumpers

Stoner's on glass

Quick Shine on chrome

Nasty Prestone stuff on tires (trying to use it up)

Nice.

"....3M Marine Vinyl..." I saw some of this stuff in WTalMart the other day and almost bought it. How does this stuff work? Looks like it leaves a satin finish, which is what I am looking for.

I really like the stuff. It does leave a more satin-like finish. I apply it with a sponge most of the time. It also has a nice, lemon scent and works well on interior vinyl/ plastic. It has UV protection as well.

Look's great, I don't think you have to clay it just yet it's an 04. I like the Avalanche without all the plastic on the side much more, nice choice:up

Just one question, what the hell is a Honda Rune?:nixweiss

I disagree pretty strongly. If you'll read thru the forums, you'll find that even newly-delivered vehicles benefit from claying, due to all the rust and other contaminants on them. I tend to clay at least every 3-4 months, and I'm in a VERY low-pollution region.

I concur with what Lynn is saying.

I would definately clay a new car and maybe some swirl remover (depends) and I usually clay about once every 6 months or so. But then I do keep my cars exceptionally clean, so your area and methods may require additional claying sessions.

I have clayed another car, and my bike before and I know the results. After I waxed, I noticed some spots of roughness on the paint still. I think it was some pine tree mist or something like that. I was kinda excited about using the PC, and running short on time. So, I didn't use the clay.

I concur with the need for clay on a new car. Our 04 white WRX is showing some rail dust blooming now that we have had it 3 months. I spot clayed areas where I felt roughness when we first brought it home. Those areas are good, but parts of the bumper, etc, where I didn't clay is showing brown spots. Clay it when it's new. It'll save you time in the long run.

Good work on the Avalanche, btw.:up

I never bought a new car before, maybe that's why I didn't know that their paint can get that bad so quick:nixweiss

Thank's for the Honda Rune pic:xyxthumbs

Hey, no problem! Always willing to post pics of the Rune!

Oh, and I love how the Avalanche is already covered in dust...Thanks desert!

I agree that the un-cladded AV looks better than the cladded AV. There are some disadvantages though. With the cladded AV, you would never get any door dings. Also, it had a nicer back bumper with steps built into the corners. That might it alot easier to get into the bed of the truck when when the tailgate was down.

The claddless AV just has the standard Silverado bumper.
