GOT PREP?
Today I detailied a 2003 Subaru STI. Very cool car, would have loved some seat time, but time did not allow.
My fiancé gave me a cyclo for an early Christmas present and I was itching to use it. I am still learning its’ limits and proper techniques, but so far I really like the machine. The cyclo is well balanced, easy to use, and IMO makes the PC seem almost underpowered. I need to get a few cars under my belt with her before I make that statement though.
The car had moderate swirls and some etching, but the brake dust was HORRIBLE!!!! This guy bought this car to DRIVE!! I can’t blame him, I would drive it to.
On the outside process was:
Wash
Clay
#80 with green cyclo polishing pads
#16 by hand
Optimum polymer car wax by hand
DISCLAIMER I know that the before and after pics show nothing as the sun had changed. I just like looking at the car and hope some of you will enjoy it as well.
Before:
After:
On the rear bumper for some reason the swirls were much worse. I was a bit scared to use the orange pads as they are sooooo STIFF!! To my surprise they worked great and left a ready to seal finish when used with HT medium cut.
The interior was really not bad at all. The only thing that needed real attention was the vinyl. The owner had been using Armorall Extreme shine on the interior. :eek It was really a greasy mess. Costco APC(10:1) made quick work of degreasing the dash.
Before: Look to the left of the sterring wheel and you can see the greasy dressing.
After:
Ahhhhh, suede recaros!!!!
And next week, the Fair Lady will get a similar treatment!!!!
