I haven't been on here for a while and a lot has changed from the last time I was on. Finally got around to cleaning up my car after two months of being busy with school.
It's a daily driver and nine years old so I didn't bother satisfying my ocd with perfection. When I bought it two years ago, I gave it a deep cleaning and it has remained relatively swirl free except for the horizontal surfaces. The hood and trunk had some body work done to them prior to my ownership and it seems like a low grade job. The swirls pretty much didn't budge on them so I left it alone. The hood had nasty orange peel and this haze that looked it something etched it. But the parts with the original paint polished out nicely. Finally got the nerves to try wetsanding and took care of the orange peel and the haze. But my PC was having a hard time completely removing all of the 2000 grit sanding marks. But like I said, I was looking for good enough and not perfect. I'd definitely take a bit of light marring over the orange peel and the haze. My paint color hides imperfections well too.
Headlights were wetsanded, then polished with a PC with a Meg's burgandy pad with Poorboy's SSR 2.5, and then polished with a orange cutting pad with SSR 2.5
Washed with ONR after being sprayed down at the car wash
The hood was wetsanded with 2000 grit 3M sandpaper, polished with Meg's burgandy pad with SSR 2.5, orange cutting pad with SSR 2.5, and topped with Ultima UPG
I went over the rest of the car with Optimum Poliseal and a orange pad. The parts where I got perfect two years ago have been surprisingly resistant to swirls. I was used to my previous car developing swirls easily between details (it was a Honda). Might top it with Autoglym HD since I really liked how it looks.
Tires got Black Magic Matte Tire Shine.
No pictures of the back because some jerk backed into my bumper last summer and I haven't had the money to fix it. Thanks for looking
