02 cavilier with repaint - oxidation removal

hey guys, it's been a little while since i've posted an ol' click and brag but, im back! ill have a couple more coming, too. todays detail was an 02 cavalier that was wrecked back in 02 and had the front half repainted; front fenders, hood and bumper. got paid to remove the oxidation on fenders and hood. i started with 5.5" low profile orange and pb ssr2.5 on pc speed 6. made a noticeable difference but didn't cut it. i stepped up to menz power gloss on low profile 5.5" orange. worked great. started to finish up with 106ff on 5.5 inch white, but it wasn't playing nicely with the PC so i switched to obsessive detail light polish. i finished up with opti seal cuz we were running out of time, and the car obviously sees a little neglect. with more time i would have sold an interior shampoo cuz there was some stains. also i would have done a light polish on the rest of the car. no oxidation, but still could have used it.

note: the the paint was just drinking up the polish. the PG barely dusted and IIRC it has a reputation to dust hard. maybe it had something to do with the oxidation? i had 2 orange pads i kept cleaning and switching around during the detail.

complete process was:

wash:

2bm gold class and dawn

meg's white, clay magic blue

dry, yellow vroom

polish:

menz pg 2 passes 3x where needed

IPA wipe down

od light polish 1 pass

lsp:

optimum opti-seal

meg's uqd wipe down

interior:

quick vacuum

meg's glass cleaner (windows were filthy)

the uqd wipe down removed blotches from the OS and darkened the paint slightly

comments and criticism welcomed.

wow, totally forgot about this thread. i scrubbed the tires with simple green cut 2:1 and dressed them with megs HD 2:1, iirc. i know the wells are a little dirty, but i was very pressed for time and the customer was surprised i actually even tried on them. sorry the pictures are crappy. i was using someone elses camera that i was not familiar with.
