My local Mervyn's carry a towel made by Fieldcrest called the "Luxury Suite".

It is 100% Supima(pima) cotton loops. Feels pretty good.

30x54" oversize bath on sale for $9.99. Also have Bath Sheet for $19.99 if you really need a HUGE towel.

They are first quality so consistency across samples are pretty good. Check them out.

Mervyn's also have another Fieldcrest towel with a Supima/cotton blend: 88% cotton+ 12% Supima cotton blend.

That is probably a Charima. I say this because they are made with Supima, which the Royal Velvets aren't and, on the other hand, the Charisma Select bath towel is a bit oversized and is larger than what you report, its 33 x 58. Lastly, the Charismas go for $9.99, the same price, on the Fieldcrest outlet site on the net.

I do have one doubt. The size you report is a bit odd. Regular Charismas are 30 x 54, not 30 x 53.

The Bath sheets are not a good value. The cost per square inch is high. And, such a large towel is easy to drag on the ground. A Select is big enough and, uncut, I only use for drying -- its too large for detailing, apply Z6, etc. ! Better to buy two bath sized and even then I cut most of them into two or more smaller towels.

Darbh,

I tried cutting a Royal Velvet towel in half and after one wash the ends started becoming really frayed and "spread" out. There are strands sticking out measuring approx 1 inch. Have you experienced the same thing? Or do you have them serged?

Thanks.

Tony

Darbh/Tony:

What about cutting towels with pinking shears? I was reading around the archives and found a thread mentioning that cutting with pinking shears would decrease fraying quite a bit, and that someone would try it out with a Charisma. Unfortunately he did not update us.

He mentioned that using the zigzag pinking shears would fight off fraying, but when it happens just cut again along the edge. Repeat until you don't have any more towel I guess.

Has anyone tried this yet?

Puterbum,

Haha! You're still awake like me. Us west coasters have the forum to ourselves.

That's a good idea. Maybe I'll look into that. Maybe my wife has a pair somewhere in the house.Too bad I just bought a bunch of small serged charisma's from my local Zaino distributor.

Thanks.

Tony

Hi

I understand. I could not believe how fraid the towels could get once cut.

I thought of pinking sheers, too. My mother used them and she sometimes had me do work for her with them. None of the pinking sheers I know of would be able to cut a towel. It was hard enough to cut thin material.

I just get my towels serged. Ira, the LA Zaino distributor, serges with 100% cotton thread, which is rare now days. He had to special order it. He is at www.lazaino.com

This client came to me from a local message board. It had some pretty bad waterspots all over the car and a fair amount of swirls and the paint just didn't have much shine anymore. So I made the journey out there and spent the rest of the day and late into the night bringing beauty back to this stunning TA.

Every exterior surfaced was polished. The body got one stage of paint correction with over 75% defect removal, the glass was polished to remove the waterspots, the chrome wheels were polished to bring the luster back to the chrome, the exhaust tips were polished to like new condition, and the tail lights were polished to remove swirls and fading and brought back the gloss and reflections in them. After all this was done, the car got an IPA alcohol wipedown to remove polishing oils and prep the surface for Zaino. After applying and removing the Zaino, the fabric roof was reconditioned and protected. After 2 treatments the top looked noticeably healthier. With a lot of track time on this car and over 100,000 miles I was please with how it came out.

I want to give a special thanks to Duane and Theresa for being so welcoming and hospitable. They fed me twice while i was there and we just sat and talked cars and had good fun. It was a busy day but a very enjoyable one. Thank you guys!

A quote from the owner

I slapped on my sunglasses, grabbed the car keys and headed for the garage so I could go fetch some Starbucks for my hungover, half awake self. Opened the garage door and was damn thankful the sunglasses were on as the light reflecting off the Bird's new high gloss look would have exploded my eyeballs if the glasses weren't on. I can't believe that's my formerly dirty, swirl infested car....it looks amazing now, THANK YOU!!! :)

Onto the pics!

Hey Jeff.... Nice work on the T/A! The paint really looks good. I had a white T/A WS-6 until about a year ago when I bought the Corvette. They are really great cars. They have that aggressive, modern-muscle look.

Again, nice job!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Great job on the TA Jeff. It's easy to see why the owner was so happy.

Way to bring back it's orininal luster (sorry Bill).:Dancing Dot:

Very very nice work. Those cars (the ram air's) have always been very tough looking, you made it look great!
