1968 Allstate Sabre motorcycle/moped- need advice with paint

I have been asked about what I could do with one of these bikes as far as detailing. I am curious as to how these were painted (thin, soft, paint type, etc) and how modern abrasive compounds and polishes would react. Any other advice is welcome as well as I haven't worked on anything like this...

    Disposable car covers

Has anyone used these? Any marring issues during installation or removal? I have thought about getting one or two for temporary use. They would be used overnight while a LSP cures...then I wouldn't need to worry about dust accumulation before going for a second layer. Or just during overnight...

Over the Top Detailing: Chevy S10: deswirled

Here is one I did before the winter. A two-step correction was performed which removed a majority of the swirling but left some RIDS. Since this was a winter vehicle 476s was used for protection. The truck was already washed so I started with removing wax residue around emblems and badges...

Over the Top Detailing - '97 Camaro SS

'97 Camaro SS - deep swirling! A few of the deeper RIDS remain. Plastics were pretty easy and much softer than the rock-hard fiberglass SLP hood and spoiler, which also had far less orange peel than the rest of the car. -Clay w/ DP gray clay & ONR -Wheels cleaned with ONR/foam sticks. -AA...

    Pressure washer a necessity?

I want to further minimize the potential of inducing swirls by adding a pressure washer to my detailing regime. I would use it to blast as much dirt off the paint as possible before foaming or touching the paint with any wash media. My question...is it really necessary or an improvement over a...

    Struggling with price structure

I have been getting ready to do this detailing obsession thing "officially" part time. I am having a little difficulty settling on how I want to do my pricing. From day 1, I was set on a 100% strictly hourly rate; getting paid exactly my payrate x hours worked. I would be giving a "maximum cost...

M105 hits like a little girl...

...when combined with Corvette clearcoat. Luckily, it wasn't getting a full correction job, but black Edge wool and M105, OC30/M105, SIP, and HTEC all barely put a dent in the deeper swirls. Max RPM was about 1800. The paint didn't appear too bad under the sun either. Maybe the color was...

Thinking about buying a DSLR (on a budget)

I am currently using a Canon PowerShot S3 IS 12x. I currently have someone interested in buying it from me, which would leave me without a camera. I need a camera and use this one for about everything--especially detailing. Capturing defects, before and afters, 50/50 shots, the whole thing. Not...

Hot and humid vs. cold and dry weather--LSPs

Has there been any end-all type of tests done comparing how different sealants and waxes last in different climates? I don't want to start a wax vs. sealant debate. I am thinking strictly climate, not necessarily what comes in contact with the paintwork (like bird droppings). I've read that some...
