Need a detailer around Phoenix Metropolitan Area to get these windows and windshields

I have no idea *** happened, but ever since I came from CA to AZ, there has been this kind of like filmy haze thing on the outside of my car. It's all over the car, the windshield, paint, windows. I'm not sure what the hell it is, but with a lot of elbow grease and some isopropyl alcohol and...

I was rear-ended today at a stop light

This is the first accident I have ever been in, and to top it off, I just bought this brand new car too (it's a 2009 Toyota Camry LE). I was stopped at a stop light, and the car behind me just barreled right into the back of my car. There is a lot of scratching and marring done to the bumper...

What kind of Audi is this?

Looks like a Miata modified? Another funny picture I snapped at a red light.

How long does Carnauba last in extreme desert weather: am I waxing too much, and more

*Warning, essay alert :grinno: Hey everyone, I was wondering how long carnauba paste waxes typically last in extreme, desert weather. I live in a very hot (let's say the average temperature around these parts are 100 degrees fahrenheit) and dry climate (not to mention dusty, but more of...

Are there any places where you can rent a polisher out for a weekend or such?

I'm a weekend warrior, so I wouldn't be using a polisher much, but I don't doubt its power in correcting paint finishes. I'm not one of those purists that believe in doing everything by hand, because I know it just won't achieve the same amount of correction you can get with a machine. Anyway...

Waxes: What exactly are we protecting against?

Was searching around looking at different Collinite threads and came across this picture. Some questions about the picture. How come the unwaxed, left side looks like there isn't as much water on the hood than the right side? Maybe due to the angle of the hood? And come to think of it, what's...

Does anyone have pictures of stained trim?

I've read about how some products will stain trim, but I'm not sure exactly what everyone is talking about. I think I even used that phrase before without knowing what I was talking about, huhaha.

Do any of you wax the head/tail lights, etc?

I've only been waxing the paint on my car, but I was watching a video on YouTube of someone applying wax to the headlight of their car. That got me to thinking about what else you could possibly wax on your car, such as the windows, windshield, emblems, etc. Do any of you wax more than just the...

S100 doesn't feel as smooth or slick as Meguiar's Gold Class carnauba paste wax

I'm not sure why, but I have used both Meguiar's Gold Class paste wax, the one that comes in a little tin can, and S100 paste wax, and it seems like the GC wax is smoother and slicker. What I mean by that is that after I buff the wax off after it has almost hazed or hazed completely (S100 says...

What do you use to remove the inside haze on your windshield and glass?

Now that it's Winter time, I've been noticing the haze on the inside of my windshield and the inside glass on the driver's side of the car. What is that gunk anyway? I don't ever remember putting my greasy hands and smearing it all over the inside of the windshield. And why does it go away...

    Autopia Demographic?

I've always wondered about how old fellow Autopians are. So how about it? How old are you, and when did you first start to get into detailing? Feel free to provide a story about what got you interested in detailing or whatever else you want. As for me, I just turned 22 a last month, and I don't...

Do you think buying product for the average weekend warrior is a waste?

Well, not that buying polishes, glazes, sealants, and waxes are a waste, but what I mean is that for the average hobbyist detailer, it doesn't seem like you'll be using all of that product for many, many years to come (I still got a can of Meguiar's Hi-Tech Yellow wax that isn't even halfway...

Is there a difference when talking about depth, shine, reflection?

I see these terms used a lot on here, but do they have different meanings? When I see these three works, I think they all mean pretty much the same thing. Like depth, if you're looking into the panel of the car, and you can see very far away, so it's a really deep reflection your car paint is...

Is Zaino is all done by hand?

I've been reading up on the Zaino website, and from what I understand all of their products are applied by hand, and you get the same results as polishing and sealing your car using a machine polisher or rotary? Is that really the case, or am I missing something here. Sounds like a magic bullet...

    PC7424 Kit on Autopia

I'm looking at this Sonus PC kit that Dave is selling on the website (Porter Cable 7424 Car Polisher Kit with Foam Polishing Pads) and do you guys know if the grey part in this picture* is a guard** like OctaneGuy sells on his website. If it isn't a guard, what is that gray thing supposed to be...

Why do they put these on cars? Can detailing shops take it off and make it look good?

I'm not sure what you call that thing I've got circled in red, but why do car manufacturers put those on their cars? It's usually not the same color, well it's the same color paint, but when you look up close it seems that it's a shade darker or lighter than the paint on the bigger parts of the...

    Some questions about detailing

Hi there, I've been a long-time lurker, and I still haven't been able to get a PC or anything to try my hand at detailing, mostly because I'm broke and still in school, but I love seeing pictures of people detailing their cars and making them look super shiny (mostly the black cars, since those...

    Questions before buying a PC

If I were to get the PC 7424 and the Dual-Action Pad Kit from Autopia Car Care, would that be all that I needed to start detailing like a pro? There's all these talk about counter weights, backing plates, and what have you. With those two kits, do I need to worry about having the right counter...

What's the difference between glass cleaner and Windex? And is claying superior?

I'm checking out the specials online for a local Pep Boys here and on sale is Eagle One 20/20 auto glass cleaner. It has the description about it leaving the glass clear and streak-free, but doesn't Windex and other blue glass cleaners have those descriptions? The only thing I can think of...
